[2] You decide that the facility is worth exploring a bit more. But first, you check the pod rooms.

They seemed to be as well secured as the previous rooms. Less worn, too. You decide it is not worth the time to get into any of them.

Forging ahead, you walk up the stairs to the next level, only to find a blast door blocking your way. A small screen to the side of the door was actually still functioning. '1/3 KEYS ACCEPTED', it reads. A keycard slot was nearby. Without the necessary keys, you figure you won't be able to go any further. So you go back to the atrium, where the multiple dead bodies lie, rotting. The doorway entices you with promises of freedom and sunlight...

It takes a few moments for your eyes to adjust to the sunlight. It's bright... really bright. Far brighter than you remember the sun being. Once your vision acclimates, you find a desolate wasteland waiting to greet you. The earth was dry, grey-yellow and cracked. Giant black stones jutted from the surface, tearing the ground apart, menacing with sharp edges. Looking back, you see the facility tower over you. A plain, grey building without windows. The only defining feature is the giant yellow 12 painted on the surface. You stand upon cracked asphalt. A parking lot, maybe? A road leads away from the lot, straight ahead to the flat horizon.

To your surprise, you find an actual vehicle. Though it's not a pretty sight. It looks like a military patrol vehicle, heavily modified and 'decorated'. It's wrapped in barbed wire, keeping several desiccated bodies securely attached to its surface. Black spikes stick out of its exterior, mainly in the front. The windows are full of bullet holes and cracks. In several places, plastic, metal, and other material has been bolted to its surface haphazardly. To reinforce or to repair, you're not sure which. You can hear the engine still running.

Call out to the owner, the odd are there not to far away as the engine in running.
If they don't appear in side of five minutes, search it for traps then take it.

"Hey! ... Hey, anyone there!" you call. You don't hear a response. After five minutes of waiting, you approach the vehicle.

[8+2] There doesn't appear to be any traps... The doors don't open though, they are bound by the barbed wire. Though you notice the roof of the vehicle has been torn off, so you go in that way.

Inside, you almost vomit from the smell of decay and rot. The back seats are covered in dried blood and pitted with holes. Trash fills the crevices between the seats, broken syringes, pieces of chitin, discarded paper. What a mess.

You begin to drive down the only road available to you, though you know this vehicle could handle the terrain off the road. After only five minutes of driving down the straight road you come upon a sign.

Newinstalk 15 km
J-3 30 km
Port 120 km

Do you wish to continue to this 'Newinstalk'?

If not stop at newinstalk and trade for more.

The gauge indicates you have forty ounces of adachrite left. That's enough to get you to J-3 plus change.

As you near the place called Newinstalk, you see a few disturbing things. Every sign since the last one you saw has been torn down, and human heads have been skewered onto the poles. The one and only billboard you pass has several bodies nailed to it, to the point at which the sign itself is indecipherable. You can see it in the distance. A small town. A metal guard tower sits atop the tallest building. Several things are hanging from the tower, but they're too far away to make out...

Perhaps a little put off by the scenery, you decide to forgo stopping in this particular city.

As you near the city, the buildings become more well defined. Covered in graffiti and surrounded by trash, the buildings of the city were in poor shape. A crackling noise comes from the radio.

"Heh, no, shut the fuck up, will you?! I'm tryin' to call 'em... Hey? Rico? You there?! Sandy? Popper? Did you find any fresh meat?" comes the hasty male voice on the other end.

"Did you get Bee? She's past due-- Hey!" A high-pitched feminine voice. You hear a scuffle on the other end.

"No... No! It's my fucking turn with the radio! Go be a whore somewhere else, you... you whore!" the first voice yells.

"Fuck you, Gene!" the woman yells back.

Continue to J-3. Stay off the horn but continue to listen. These don't seem like the most reasonable people to be talking to, and you don't want them to know that someone took their vehicle.

It's probably best not to talk to these folk, you decide. After a few moments of silence, the radio activates again.

"Helooooo, anyone there? Did you forget how to use the radio, numbnuts?" the voice says, a little agitated. You drive into the town, getting full sight of the squalor and filth. People in chitin armour wielding melee weapons wave to you. Luckily, the windows are tinted.  You're almost free of the town when the voice on the radio returns.

"Hey dumbass, where are you going? The fuckers at 3 will fill you full a' holes, and, more important, fuck up the car. Helooooooo?! Do I have to send Jam and Letter out to drag you back?!" he yells, now very annoyed. You ignore and drive out of the city. It's not long after you leave the limits that a pair of bikers are on your tail. They're closing in, fast.

Pull over. Wait for them to come up to the window, then open the door into the first guy, shoot the second one in the face, and finish off the first guy with a bullet.

((Remember, the doors are bound by wire. The only way to get in is through the roof.))
