I'll take a look at it when it's done, and if it's nice, I'll think about buying it.
Same.

I'm not really confident the expressed goals could be met with the funds they're asking for.

Hey everyone - I just updated the Original Post with some more information on the game.

For ease of access you can find it here -

Update - July 14th 2013

Confirmed Information

*There will be another live stream via their twitch.tv in 2 weeks time near the end of there kick starter.
*They are working on the simulation elements and multi-player initially. Gameplay should follow shortly after.
*Characters can get better at skills such as bomb making, Medical, engineering, etc.
*Characters carry over each round provided that they do not die in the previous round. So Survival is important for the sake of your character.
*The space station is fully modular and can be ripped apart, blown up, or just decompressed in to the vacuum of space. There are vents and Maintenance corridors in the walls and floors that can be used and accessed.
*The game is meant to be a commercial release.
*It is not meant to be first person space station 13. However they are providing mod tools that will allow you to make space station 13.
*The game is very simulation heavy. (Air Flow Simulation, Simulating power, etc.)
*The game is meant to be about paranoia and survival.
*There will be in game scripting of devices.

PANIC!

But in reality, either this won't get done due to developer issues (Do you know how many people have said they're making a SS13 remake?) or it'll be made and only have vague resemblance to SS13. You simply cannot replicate the depth of SS13 easily, and especially since their focus is on it being a first-person game. I find it VERY unlikely that many of the normal features from SS13 will be transferred to this game. If you ever played the GMOD gamemode "Morbus", then this is what it's likely going to end up as gameplay-wise.

I bet it'll be the latter. They are working on it pretty hard from what I've seen between the streams, but they are too busy being GRIMEDGYDARK to focus on the more SS13-y features.

Hey,

I probably should have worded this better.
From what I have heard you will progressively get better at skills opposed to you kill X Number of Chickens to level up. Think the Elder Scrolls Skyrim or Oblivion for this.

It's still bad for a game like SS13. During the game, you can die really at any time. Either because you messed up, someone else did, or the traitor wanted you dead. Does this mean that as a chef, I start out with shitty recipes, and have to slowly grind those until I get to the level needed to make better food? What happens if I die? Do I have to start over next round?

Also, Skyrim and Oblivion is grindy. Making it so you gain experience in the skill as you do the skill doesn't make it not grindy.

So, instead of Kill X Chickens it will be Build X Cardboard Walls to unlock building Wooden Walls. Marvelous.

Yes, you will need to start over from what I have heard if you die in a round. Although I do not know if there will be a playable chef class. That Might just be a generic skill.
When I said Skyrim or Oblivion - I meant that the general mechanic of progressively getting better. Not the actually Down to the actual grind.

Getting better implies you are worse before. And skill levels feel out of place in a multiplayer FPP game.

Definitely looks heavily SS13 inspired, that's for sure.

But it does look a little dark and gloomy for my liking. SS13 was always fun because of all the random fuckuppery, which is actually one of the only reasons I use that word. If aliens bursting from the captains chest and invading the station from within isn't overshadowed by a mentally challenged clown pissing people off with incessant honking, I'm not sure a 3d SS13 remake is worth playing.

How many new space games are in development right now? 6? 7? It's definitely way too many.

And this game isn't even trying to be original. What a disappointment.
