You run for it. Hideous laughter behind you suggests that they've noticed you making a break for it, but they're slower than you are. For the moment, at least.

You keep running. The land already looks ruined and bleak. Were you and your friends really that important? Was the line between what the world was and what it might be really so thin?


The sounds of your pursuers trail off as you desperately bolt through the remains of a city. Your city, specifically. It's nothing like you remember, though.

You've lost them for the moment, but you're tired now, and the odds that they've given up are zero. They're still searching, they're just slower than you in a full-tilt run.

You're already pretty out of breath, so you take an update to rest.


Then you begin looking around. Bits of rubble, crumbled buildings... you start looking inside them. They don't look like normal buildings; there's no furniture left and the doors are either gone or replaced by dark ragged cloths hanging in the doorway. You're not sure what they're made of now either, but it's definitely not what they used to be.




Then you find these in one room. You're not sure what they are, and frankly you're not sure you want to find out; something about them makes you uneasy. They're very small red spheres, maybe the size of a masher marble.


You also consider that you have no items, and that you don't recognize this part of the city. You're not sure if that's because you're rushing or you've never been here or because it looks so different or even because the corruption is changing the layout in addition to the nature of everything.
