Your heart skips a beat when you hear this. People? Living in the islands?! You say to yourself. You've been to almost half a dozen fallen islands. Always the same thing. Dead cities and not so much as a bone or a piece of clothing. Always plenty of artefacts though.. A crafty glint enters your eye.

You start sweating at the mention of the flying island. How could these kids be from there?! You've never even heard of anyone claiming something so outrageous! You can see your brother already practically drooling at the mentioned opportunity. Likely he's already conniving a way to figure how to make these kids fly him there. You wonder if you should say something before your brother does.

She didn't like to ask for help, not really, but in this case she was.

What is a 'News Flash' anyway? Did people used to get their news from the sky, like lightning bolts? My Dad reads his old books every morning, but they're not terribly flashy..." Bethany said, yawning.

Everybody is in medieval fantasy mode right now. I thought that'd be pretty clear with the way you guys were kitted out.

People on the mainland use guns a lot, but the sky island you guys are from (which I'm not going to say if it's the only inhabited one, but as far as you kids know your island is the only that has ever existed, and it blows your fucking minds that there's a planet beneath you) has an abundance of paper knowledge. Stuff in books and all that. Pretty much no one on land knows how to read except some mages (who are extremely rare. they don't have a college or an association or anything but every once in a while people see their towers, which tend to disappear and reappear at random).

Jack starts to walk back, feeling dizzy. He takes a drink from his flask, hoping it'll help.

Yeah I've mixed up the short four letter names a few times but no one ever noticed. That's why I've started calling Jack instead Jackson every once in a while.
