He could be behind this tree, or a mile sunwards, or--okay, he's not behind that tree, but you get my point--or on the other side of this island--wherever that is--or on some other island, or maybe even falling, falling, falling. We can't expect a quick search, we can't even expect to find Wells at all."

"Yeah, there is a lot, but we aren't going to find him if we don't look, and right now, finding Wells is my highest priority.
There has to be some sort of civilization around here, if Wells found it, that's where he'd go."

Look around, are there any buildings on the horizon? Any signs of life?

"And if we can find that, then we won't have to worry about surviving all that bad, anyway."

Jack looks at all the Kyle on the ground.

"C'mon, he can see better than I can, let's pick him up."

"One thing at a time, we get food, shelter. Well, first we get Kyle together, then the food and shelter, and then we find civilization, which should lead us to Wells. All right?"
