Beth looks around, her wings creaking in the wind. No one was going to step up naturally.

And that was the reason she was the leader of this group, after all..

"Pff, buck up, you raindrops.

I'm not afraid! You hear me, you ugly rocks? I'm not afraid of you!"
She says, not quite whom she's addressing, but it makes her feel better.

After a moment, her tiny yet somewhat fierce voice echoes away and away, now sounding weak, hollow and shaky-to her, anyway-it's almost as if the place is making fun of her! She scowls, hands on her slim hips. Which is almost always a sign of consternation.

"...Now, I figure Kyle needs to bring out his magic disc now-either it will change when we get closer to the door, or it might be a key of some sort you place onto, or in it. Or you could stand in front of it, and say 'Open'!

We've been lead here for a reason...this could be it...

Everybody get ready-we don't know whats going to happen, or what might come out. I mean, everybody get ready to fire if something creepy comes out...move into position! Like this...over here, scudbrain! *shoulderpunch*"

Stepping up, Bethany begins barking...er, suggesting...orders-she wants to make a formation so they'll be ready if something bad comes out, and if they're going inside, she wants to keep them in the same positions. Kyle in particular, she wants to be able to dodge back between Derry and Wells if something bad happens.

Of course, she's just a child, so her orders are less concise than that, considering mostly energetic pointing and gesticulating, tomboy-strength shoulder punches, and calling them scudbrains if they move too slowly.

...

At the end, she herself scoots back behind the perceived safety of her friend Derry, ready to give an arrow to anything ugly and stupid enough to come their way.

Action: Arrange our little party in combat formation, waiting for Kyle to try and open the door. Assuming no one rebels.

Arrange myself, Jack and Alex in a loose semi circle, with Derry and Wellington in-between us and the door. Ideally, clear firing lines and the ranged folks having time for clean shots. Put myself behind Derry.

((Can this count as my good sense for the next fight, if something comes out of the door? Pretty much I'm arranging a defense position for the melee and an offense for the ranged. At least Jack can probably run away easier.

Also, I hope no one minds my little hijacking. But the only real action here is Kyles.))

Yep. The party gains +1 to hit during the first combat round, if something attacks you.

"Apparently, we are going to listen to Bethany and arrange ourselves for combat, in case some kind of horrible monster comes out of the door and tries to eat us," says Alex as he complies. "We're mostly waiting for Kyle to go over by the door and stuff. Oh, and by the way...told you so, Derry."

"We open that scudding door, and then we see whats inside, yeah!

That little magic box I found was nothing. Who knows what we could find in there..."
She says, nodding to herself.

"I mean, everybody says there's mountains of Platium coins in the Oldway, right? Enough stuff you'll be happy forever.

It's all probably a load of dragon feathers, but the rumors have to come from somewhere. There's something valuable in there, I know."

"Apparently, we are going to listen to Bethany and arrange ourselves for combat, in case some kind of horrible monster comes out of the door and tries to eat us," says Alex as he complies.

"At least any monster will eat you last since you're so skinny. That's a silver lining, for you." She says, smiling and gigging, despite her nervousness.

Kyle pulls out the disk and starts looking around the door for anything that looks like the disk.
"Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me..."
While he does that whispers out a song about pirates under his breath.

Stand in spot Beth arranged, no sense in arguing.
While waiting for Kyle, take out flask and smell liquid.

"I hope you're not too mad, I've got a hunch."

"Oh sure, and if a Hrobgroblin or a Ydratti or a Entacluel or a Three Headed Fire Breathing Eruvian Boomslang comes charging out of there to snap you up, I'll just have to shoot in over your head, no problem." She said piquantly, as the fool trundled into her line of fire.

Leaving his 'flank', undefended, and his friends with no support.

This idea caused her a brief flash of anger. But, she couldn't force him to do anything, he was a friend...but, she had an idea that a real leader might have to force someone to do something  for the good of everyone they lead...but, could you be a leader and still be friends with the people you lead?

It was a thought that would bother Bethany for some time.

Wells steps aside as Kyle produces the disc from within his shirt and approaches the door. Everyone watches quietly as he looks from the door, to the disc, and back to the door. Unsure of what exactly he should do, he tries touching the door with the disc. The door starts, the topples inward, shattering into large pieces on the ground inside the building. You all head inside, Kyle in the lead, and the others clustered behind him.

Behind the door is an immense chamber. Its round, with curved walls carved out of rough granite, unlike the cobbled city outside. The ceiling stretches tall, and the darkness prevents you from seeing just how high it is. The door you came through is the only entrance that you can see, and also the only source of light, illuminating the area around the portal. In the direct centre of the room is a circular dais with a pedestal rising out of it, all made of the same stone as the wall and floor. The six of you cross the room and mount the dais, surrounding the pedestal. There is an indentation in it which you quickly realise to be a match for Kyle's disc.
