"That's not a couch, that's a harpsichord!" Bethany says, as a jangling musical sound emanates from under Derry. It sounds quite melodic.

Oh no, I'm sorry!
Derry stands hurriedly. He looks as though he is scared to sit anywhere now.

[Dwarmin]

"You silly boy, sit here or here or here..." She says, pointing to random directions.

[Gamerlord]

Derry slowly sits on a stool, feeling like an idiot.

[Dwarmin]

Bethany decided not to tell Derry he was sitting on a prototype cotton-gin.

"...just relax, Derry. You're...well, safe here. You can just kick back, we've got some cold food in the back cellar-even a guest bedroom if you want some sleep...it used to be my mothers office. We didn't want to just be an empty room, me and my Dad-so we keep it ready for visitors." She says quietly.

[Gamerlord]

No no, I don't want be any trouble!
Derry looks up at Beth then stars back down at his feet.

[Dwarmin]

She stands up and puts a hand on his shoulder, gently.

"Relaaaax. Derry. I invited you, remember? You're a guest-and entitled to take advantage of my hospitality. I just want to be your friend. So, don't act all nervous. You're making me think I'm a bad host."

[Gamerlord]

He doesn't look up.
I'm sorry.

[Dwarmin]

"You've nothing to be sorry about."

[Gamerlord]

Derry just fidgets and keeps staring down. Everything is his fault, they told him so!

((The flakes are just ointment. It was supposed to sit for a bit, then be removed with another oil; Alex forgot the last step, not that Derry running off helped. Nothing directly harmful...but Derry might overreact like you seem to have been.))

Bethany is, despite her other qualities, still a child. She doesn't know how to help Derry, though on some level she knows he has to help himself first...

"Okay, so you're not feeling all right. Let me cheer you up-we'll do something to take our minds off you being nervous, then. I was going to explore the old haunted windmill in a bit-I already invited that guy who healed you up. Would you like to come with me after lunch?" She says, hooking her small hand in his larger one.

Derry looks at her hand, then glances up, making eye contact.
