Derry leant in and hugged Beth tightly.

It's okay. Do what you gotta do.

Bethany's wings flapped softly and froze. She was the first to break away from the embrace, though she had wanted it never to end.

"...alright! Don't worry, Derry. I'll come back for you-even the island if falling apart and you're about to be crushed by giant angry rocks, I'll come and get you. Even if we have to get crushed together." She said, with a fearless smile.

Bethany knew, in that moment, she could do this. Her earlier worries fluttered away.

She was the best! Nothing had ever beaten her! And she was going to be the hero today!
She thought, psyching herself up and shadowboxing the air. It was almost time for the jump...

Derry grinned at Beth's shadowboxing, then looked over the ledge, readying himself for the trial and likely pain to come.

((Though you can imagine I might be biased, I've come to the decision that Bethany's wings would act as flotation devices...for a little while. She's not a duck, but her feathers would repel water and remain buoyant for a time. Eventually the water would seep through and render them dead weight, tho. I'm also assuming her bone structure became alot more avian to account for her wings, which would greatly reduce her total weight.))
Yeah, those were the assumptions I was making. Since avian bones are hollow (I think) it should be pretty tough for you to instantly drown.

I'm assuming Derry wouldn't have many problems figuring out how to swim.
Heh. Perhaps given time. Definitely not in five minutes. You do have a point about stamina and strength and such.

They are mostly hollow. That's why they can't really let their bones get broken if the like those bones.

Planning only increases HIT, which is for combat.

Jack looked at his friends.
Alex, Kyle, Beth, Derry.
That's four trips in all, not nearly enough time before they crashed, something more was needed.

"If you're getting Derry last, get Kyle and Alex first, there's still something I need to do!"

Back up from the edge a bit and wait for Beth to begin.

Beth grabs Alex first and dives off. Their flight is marred by sudden losses of lift in which they plummeted for seconds at a time, to their horror, but Beth always manages to regain control and continue flying. She glides down to the near side of the lake and drops Alex over the beach before making a rough landing herself. Alex falls several feet and hits the ground, crumpling awkwardly and just barely avoiding what could have been a crippling injury. He comes away with shaking hands and a throbbing pain in his right knee, but he can still walk well enough. Beth rams into the ground, sending jets of sand flying in every direction. She rolls for several feet before coming to a rest, then hops to her feet, still spluttering and trying to shake the sand from her hair and wings.

Jack is watching the whole thing, and when he sees Beth struggling to take off on the ground, where the wind can't reach, he concentrates and uses his powers to fill her wings with air. He continues assisting her ascent as Kyle steels himself for what he's about to do.

Kyle shakes one leg, then the other, rolling his neck and taking a few deep breaths. He looks down. Oh bother.. Its a really big drop. It must be more than a hundred feet. He sucks in a little more air and pinches himself a few times. He walks back towards the small stone structure, still trying to talk himself out of it- scud it. He turns and, making a split decision before he realises this is an awful idea, takes a running leap off of the island.

The wind tears at Kyle's face and clothes as he plummets to the earth screaming at the top of his lungs. He starts tumbling end for end and wheels his arms in a desperate bid to right himself. His eyes tear up as the stinging gale whips at his face, and his gentle roll turns into a wild spin. His breathing slows a bit as he calms himself, trying to focus on becoming fluid, turning to gel. He's just wondering if it worked wh-SPLAT!

Bits of Kyle fly everywhere following his high speed impact as Alex shakes the sand from his clothes, and he finds himself covered in pieces of his friend instead. Its all over his face and hands, blinding him, and he almost cries out in horror as he wipes Kyle's blood from his eyes.

Except its not blood. Its.. some sort of opaque, colourless gel..

……*lightbulb*

Oh yeah. That thing he does. Alex scrapes the bits of Kyle off of him and starts making a pile on the ground. This'll probably take a while. Kyle himself helps a bit by wiggling the various bits of himself slowly towards the main goo pile. Alex glances upward at the island. Its still over the forest, but its getting awfully close to the ground. He sees a flash of white as Beth lands again.

Jack assists Beth's movements as best he can and Derry reaches out to catch her as she rockets toward him. She slams into Derry's gut, earning an oof from the strong-limbed lad as they tumble backwards in a heap. Beth gets up, realising there's no time to lose. Who next? Jack looks down and realises that the island is suddenly over the lake. Its picking up speed faster than it should be. They're much closer to shore than they were when Beth first took off, but its still a good distance. Whoever stays behind might have to flounder for a bit before Beth can come back. Can she even lift anyone while they're soaking wet? What if she just gets pulled in? Will she be able to stay high enough above the water to avoid getting wet herself? Beth could probably float much longer than any of the others could because of her wings, but eventually they would become waterlogged and begin to drag her down.

take jack
"you can't fly, moron"

"...Hm. HEY! NEITHER OF YOU CAN FLY PARTICULARLY WELL! Do you think they heard me, Kyle? You should wait to answer until you have a functioning larynx, and I'd be fine with waiting until your thoracic cavity is complete. Or your entire torso, if you'd prefer.

'I think some of my penis got in your ear."
Kyle thinks wearing a look of discomfort. At least as much as a pile of goo can look discomforted.

Alex shuddered and began cleaning out his ear fast, worrying more about getting Kyle out than anything.

"Not. A. Word."
