"Well, we should still be able to get a ship with that. Anyone want to look at ships with me? (to the barkeep) Hey, do you know the best place to get a ship?"

"I would advise anyone interested in boarding the ship to at least look at what we are considering purchasing."

We will surely do that, but don't hope to get much for that price, really.

"Why do you think I am going to look at ships? To look for any surprises and see how much rust can be removed before we get a breach."

The barkeep wakes up after apparently drifting off to sleep again.

"Urk, huh what? Oh ships. Well the shipyards obviously. I've got a cousin who's a shipwright over there, works for Arkarn's Foundry.... I think they do industrial ships, yeah. Ore collection and processing, heavy cargo ships, asteroid towing, that kinda thing."

"Mmm... Do you know someone who do fast, somewhat armed ships as well?"

"No sorry. I've never had to buy a ship or anything like that. Only ever been to the shipyards once. Went just the other day to look at the military's new ship. They are naming it next month, big ceremony and everything. Best ship to ever come out of the shipyards they say. Certainly looks hi-tech to me."

"Maybe over on Prize? Prize of Rose I mean. You might be able to find something second hand over there, probably find some things that are 'second hand' as well."

*whispering in a way that the barkeep can't hear her* "Does anyone intend to come back here in the next twenty years? Or in any system controlled by the Enan government, which aren't that common, for that matter? Because that military ship piqued my interest."

And so our intrepid heros took it outside, so far outside in fact that they got on a shuttle headed for the shipyards central hub.

The hub is a large disk with what appears to be three decks. The bottom and top decks are devoted to the maintenance and running of the hub and off limits to the public. The middle deck contains an observation deck circling the entire hub with extension ports linking the hub up to the actual yards. The central area of the hub is devoted to administration offices except for the help center and a restaurant that looks classy but is full of casually dressed dockworkers. The new Ragno-gov battleship is docked at the 'Ships of Rose' yards and there is a small crowd at the observation window taking a look at it. Apart from the crowd the station is almost empty with the occasional shift of workers heading to or from the shuttle dock.

There is a map of the hub in front of the help center:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

A small amount of inconsequential talking to the help centre staff reveals the specializations of each of the yards:

Jacobs and Melcorp are small companies that share a yard. They mostly build commissions, repairs and modifications but they do have some existing ships that were ordered but never picked up.

Arkan's foundry is pretty much what the barkeep said it is. They build industrial ships like those found in mining and hauling industries but also create specialty ships for large companies.

Ships Of Rose was the first and largest ship production company on the planet and do a majority of their work for the government, typically creating military ships. Apart from warships they produce a range of small high speed ships that are usually used by couriers and stellar surveyors.

Mao-Fa Unlimited is the local branch of a large ship production and design company. They have a very large range of mid to low range ships for almost any purpose.
