I know double-posting is bad form, especially right after a post I've been editing a bunch, but this is important.Nevermind, thanks Fool
We're in the setup phase, which means you can all change or decide on your Job, buy some abilities with your 150 JP per job per person, have petty squabbles over who gets how much of which equipment, and call dibs on which spot (inside that green rectangle in the battle map) you will actually start in. I know it looks like I already have you guys lined up, but that's just to illustrate that you're physically present; first one to call dibs on a spot gets that spot.
In future, the "setup phase" will just be amalgamated into the first turn of combat.
For now, I'm using profile pictures to represent you guys, since I don't have all of the battle sprites yet.
As for the terrain in this fight:
-The stone floors you're standing on, the white marble floors to the north, and the stairs between them do not alter combat at all,
except that the white floors are vertically lower than the ground you're on. Physical ranged attacks (i.e. with a bowgun) get be fired at +1 range if the attacker is on the gray floor and the target is on the white floor.
-the rubble between you and those south piscodermons, and the wood splinters (how have they not rotten? it is a mystery) beyond them, are difficult terrain. You requires 2 Speed points per tile to move through them.
-The nearest piscodemon is facing a pillar, which may or may not be hard for you to see. You can't move through that space, and it stops projectiles (like bowgun ammo or thrown items). Obstacles do not stop magic, though, and you can- somehow- see through them just fine.
Oh, by the way, the players and enemy characters act as obstacles for projectiles, too. You can't throw a potion to an ally if another ally is in the way, and if you try to shoot an enemy who's on the other side of a friend, you're going to shoot your friend instead
So be careful about your turn order!
(you can avoid this by using a bow & arrow instead of a crossbow, except you actually can't just now because you don't have them)
Turn order will go in the order of the posts, unless explicitly stated otherwise.Might as well do the ability-buying and position-dibbing in this thread instead of the In-Character thread. You know, to preserve the atmosphere for posterity.
"Squidlarkins! Oh no!" I change job into squire, buy Throw Stone and Immolate, and equip a scimitar. Derpette, I'm going to take the top-rightmost position, if that's okay. "Have at you!"
EDIT: Oh right, the campaign file. You're all gonna want that. Heh...
Note that nitty-gritty details about the Piscodemons' abilities are not available. I have them, but you don't; you're going in half-blind. You do have Lore available (dammit forgot to write that up) that says they're supposed to be stronger than an average human and have a blinding attack, but these ones have grown soft after being devoid of predators for so long.
linkyMental note to self, write up Rumoured Lore about the Orbonne Library's anti-dust bullcrap, Common Knowledge Lore about Squidlarkins, Daravon's profile, and re-upload the campaign.
