So the open beta test is finally upon us. I've been playing a bit, and it is quite fun. As an added bonus, it isn't laggy as all hell, unlike War Thunder (at least for me). The controls are entirely mouse-based except for an engine boost, and it handles well, in an arcade-y way. Oh, and anyone who gets at least 100 battles before the full release gets some special decorations, while anyone who racks up 700+ gets special aircraft.

The way that WG is handling ammo looks interesting; you have infinite ammo, and rather than buying shells can either use the free standard ammo or pay credits for incendiary or AP ammo belts.

As they say haters gonna hate, but come one, i dont see any good reason to play this when warthunder is superior in every aspect, you would need to have some serious brand loyalty to war gaming.

Long story short: I played World of Tanks for 3 years and started the thread about it here, which is still active. Once I found out about War Thunder, I got converted. :p

All I can say is that I tried War Thunder and I really wanted to like it, but I was pulling <5FPS and a terrible ping for no apparent reason, despite the fact that no other game I play has that issue.

Its a shame really but i guess i can understand if its a technical issue. I was considering not posting, but what the hell is the internet i can invade threads to post a shity opinion.

Heh, it's not as if I particularly like WG, considering their terrible history with customer relations, but for me they're the only option. I'll probably re-download WT in a few months and give it another try, but until then this and old Ace Combat games will have to do.

Wargaming PR is just completely off. Just this Tankfest, the EUWest community contributor of the month got kicked out twice for wearing a German Tank company uniform. The same uniform that's modeled in the game if you just hover over your crewmen. I don't even know.

I haven't played World of Warplanes yet, even though I got into closed beta and proceeded to completely forget about it. But judging from various videos, the way planes control just seem...a bit off. I don't know how to say it, but War Thunder just seems more accurate and responsive in a way, I don't know.

Also, I don't know what kind of computer you have but WT runs very well on many computers. Hell, I play it on a shitty laptop that can barely run any modern games and can get a consistent 50-60 FPS on low settings. The game seems rather well optimized to me.

I've got a Lenovo Y580. That's a quad-core i7-3820QM processor, 8GB of RAM, and a GTX 660M (2GB VRAM). At the time I was on university internet, which is obscenely good. I have absolutely no bloody idea why the performance was so terrible with WT. :|

That's really weird, might be a driver issue or something (Just kidding, it's never a driver issue.) It may be worth another shot again, since plenty of patches were probably released since you last tried playing, and you can always knock down the graphics significantly if you're like me and prefer the highest FPS available.
