SOS: Ship of Sacrifice - Online Co-op Adventure Game
« on: July 03, 2013, 02:42:28 pm »

Hey everyone, I was refereed by a friend to share this project with the Bay 12 Games community. He believed that you guys would enjoy this, and I hope he wasn't wrong!

Today, I've launched a Kickstarter for a game titled, Ship of Sacrifice. It is an online co-op adventure game with a story designed to be experienced with a friend. More information can be found by clicking the image below.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you guys might have!

That looks quite cool. How much is completed (or at least working in some way) now? The graphics style is one I really, really like.

The game's foundations are fairly complete but lacking content. We decided to start a Kickstarter early into development to see if there is enough public interest in this type of game.

I'm working with a team of just three people, including myself, committed to working full time on the project for about a year if it gets funded.

$40,000 seems like a pretty lofty goal.

Also the idea of a co-op adventure/puzzle game seems off. I remember how to advance through pretty much every scene in Space Quest. What are the chances you are going to find someone at the same point in the game that you are?

$40,000 seems like a pretty lofty goal.

We are using the money to increase the quality of the game, like hiring a composer. If we are able to get funded with our current price point, this would mean the three of us would work for a year under minimum wage. We would take lower, but this is kind of necessary to cover our living expenses. Anything less just really isn't viable. :(

We're sectioning the game into chapters. We believe that with this system you should be able to find someone else who is on the same chapter as you are. You'll also have the option to replay chapters. For example, if another player is on chapter 10 and you're on chapter 11, you can decide to work through it with them if you feel like it.

I wouldn't mind a co-op adventure game I could play through with my girlfriend.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

That is exactly the kind of experience we're looking for people to have. Almost like reading an interactive book, but that's made for two people to read at the same time.

I will always hate the 2d revolving effect. Something about it hurts my eyes.

There are a lot of story elements that center around the act and spirit of sacrifice. I can't go into detail without spoiling the story, but we believe that what we've written has very meaningful message to it.

Would you say this is similar to Journey in how this will play out from a co-up perspective? Is there a chat system between the players to use, or are they left to communicate via more simpler methods?

Well, you do have a busy life, what with keeping tabs on wild, rough-and-tumble forum members while sorting out the drama between your twenty two inner lesbians.
Your drunk posts continue to baffle me.

While Journey is a fantastic game, Ship of Sacrifice needs an open and free way to communicate to solve puzzles together. Our game will support both voice and text chat.

It looks pretty awesome, added to my watch list and if I have any spare cash in the next couple of weeks I'll throw you some.
