The system is Tau Ceti. Tau Ceti e is a planetary body in that system.
It would still be weird, but the game this is based on, the forum it is based in, and the guy running it (no offense, monk12) are all weird, so we can't rule it out, especially given the plausible motive.

It's far more plausible that he took offense to us disagreeing with him. And we already know he dislikes the planet, as it is useless in his goal to find places to found a space colony on. Tau Ceti e isn't habitable, so he has no interest in it.

Oh hey, a tie! Well, for future reference my tie breaking procedure involves picking which option is most amusing to me and/or is new and exciting. Though as it happens the flow of the conversation would have been pretty similar either way.

	"Sigmund tried to adjust the orbit of the Hatoful in order to position some probes more efficiently, but the helm locked him out. Turns out that Taggart had locked in our next Jump a few hours before the briefing even started."
	"Huh. That's kinda weird."
	"It feels like every pigeon on this ship is on some kind of power trip. Ciel... why did you side with them?"
	"Them? Them who?"
	"The pigeons. They've got us outnumbered, you know. When I first heard you were assigned to the Hatoful, I had hoped I would have someone on my side for a change. Someone I could trust at my back, instead of being alone out here in space."
	"Kalani..."

Jan 18- I met everyone! Yay!
Jan 19- First Astral Jump at 0800. Freaky! 0815 Ken gave me an egg, and I chose to work with Kalani in the Lab because I approve of his work. At 1330 I took lunch in the Common Room with the Captain, and didn't say anything. At 1900 there was a debate about whether to leave Tau Ceti quickly or stick around for an asteroid impact, and I voted for the impact. Not that it mattered, since the Captain said we'd leave immediately anyway. I caught up with Sigmund after the meeting, and he asked what I thought about Kalani. I dunno, I don't know anyone!
Jan 20- Captain interrupted my breakfast at 0830 to tell me I would work with Mitali in the Life Support room this morning. While we worked, I asked her about her hobbies, and learned she spent her free time counting beans. That's pretty neat! I went back to work with Kalani at 1000. I think he was mad at me about how the briefing went

Yeah, that's basically what I meant. Acknowledge that Sigmund and the Captain are acting weird, but say we still have to trust them and rest of the crew because it's our job to work with. It may also be worthwhile to point out to him that working with the Captain and Sigmund will probably allow us to get a better idea of their motives.
