Let's assume that 60% of the ship is life support, cryoberths, and such, with 40% being used for engineering and the ship's actual purpose.
Let us further assume that a cryoberth is about 1x1x2 meters, while the life support and such for a single crew member is around 3 meters cubed. Hence, the volume would be ([27*31,000]+[2*18,000])*(5/3) m², or a bit under 1.5 million cubic meters (1.5 cubic kilometers). This is a relatively conservative estimate, assuming that a human could live in a 10-foot cube and that relatively little space was set aside for the ship's purpose. Whatever the exact size, it's on the kilometer scale.

You take in a ragged breath, breathing deeply of the sweet, sweet air as your cryo-pod opens with a swoosh of released air, sliding out in a way eerily remniscent of a morgue. That is how the chambers are laid out, after all, to save space. You nearly bang your head as you step off and drop, step, or climb a ladder down to the floor, as the case may be. Shouldn't they all be closed? Stepping out from the wall to get a better look, you see movement nearby; four other people seem to have awoken at the same time. Of the several hundred cryo-pods you can see, maybe one in three is still closed, and some seem to be broken, hanging at a strange angle. The lighting is dim, and the harsh grayish-white tinge of the cryo-bay is overlain by a faint haze. Are the air scrubbers malfunctioning? The air certainly smells stale, now that you think about it...you've got to figure out what's going on. At least you have the pistol they issue everyone going into cryo.

As for how big the ship is, you guys don't know(partially because you don't have an Engineer, who would know), but in actuality it's around 2,950,000 m³, since it has ship bays and such, as well as internal farms, schools, and a certain amount of generous space. You don't just crew ships, or live on them; they are your home, and where you will raise your children to crew the ship. This ship more-so/has those primarily because it's a Hypotenuse-class explorer ship.
