Setting up a "working" ship takes a bit - we do get equipment based on our job, shiptype and supplies afterall. There will be questions as to what wich what numbers mean - like fuel, energy, sustenance, but I will update the specific stuff soon-ish. Sometimes this afternoon I guess, as I still need to un-cluster some of it.

Log - Stranded: Day I
Intergalactical Hour: 14:30

You prepare to dock yourself, and so far no problems occur. The Facility is not the biggest asteroid you ever been on - and you have been on quite a few, with every race settling on them and all - but on a whole it looks a bit above basic. Seeing as there are a fair number of ships, the Vagusi seem to do well for themself here.

You check your facilities and are not displeased with the current state of your body. You have some ample supplies [8] of fuel, and ~9 days worth of sustenance left – too bad you already Synthesized [2] most of it. Next to some pretty basic organs [12], you do have a very nice utility attached to your body. The Enhanced Sensory Organs enables you to gauge your opponents better – quite valuable in the field. Your weaponry is most pleasing [18], the two Disruptor-Lasers augmenting your preferred style of fighting with their shield-breaking abilities.

Spoiler: Skithy (click to show/hide)

You ponder over what to do, and might even be swayed to sink into idle thoughts again. You do have a supreme mind - as all of your race do - afterall.

A~nd the free game beginns. Kinda. Feel free to discuss the speech further, seeing as no consensus was reached up till now.

More combat-oriented stuff will come with the next update.

Offload trade goods for more fuel.

Inquire about nearby Protervee and Kathervan settlements that we may visit in the future.

Spend a few days docked, waiting for an easy to victimize ship to leave the Asteroid. Follow it and attack when we are far enough away from the base so that it wont be getting any support.

Solid Suggestion. I'll just take it, seeing as there is no-one opposing it.

Log - Stranded: Day I
Intergalactical Hour: 15:45

You decide to scout here for potential victims, and see about selling your "scavenged" wares. Straight after docking you ask the locals about anything of note in the system – and learn quite a lot about it. Obviously they call it by yet another nonsensical name.

The unknown area in the back could be scanned by you, but you are pretty sure it might aggreviate the Vagusi.

You do find out that the securety of this system is said to be quite good [15]. While there is also a strong presence of Ignothal raiders [11], they mostly harrass the Protervee, with general trade being unaffected by them. Noone mentioned anything about a good place for you to scavenge – not that you would have expected it, nor would really go after it, but it is your current cover afterall. One leaving Atano remarks that you might be able to get a deal with the Protervee about hunting those raiders down – but the wisdom of doing so with a strong presence of Ignothal in both neighbouring systems is debatable indeed.

There are also three gates in the greater vicinity;

Sending out a few inquires to the markets on the local com-line - as visiting by yourself would be quite difficult - you are able to find someone that would buy the tradegoods for 10 Bounds [12-2=10x0,5 (low quality goods)], but even with energy quite plenty [17] in this system, it won't make the cut for Fuel that is priced at 26 Bounds. You do have 30 Bounds left over from previous buisness, so you could buy a single unit, but hold that off for now.

On the matter of viable victims, there are aplenty that catch your sensory receptors. Your body is not too shabby for these parts, this place being more on the „rough“ scale than the prime of civilization found in the three accesible systems. A Small Kathervan Cruiser also meets what would pass as your eye [13], and you are tempted to hail your kin-thing. Else there will be a company [02] of Vagusi ships leaving today for the third gate – they don't seem to like risks out here, or so it seems. Checking your options, you ask if you might accompany them [6-2=4], but they do not take well to the idea.

Spoiler: Skithy (click to show/hide)
Do you want to make use of the current Situation, or rather procceed as initiated?

Hail the Kin-Thing. Learn what it does for a living. If it is a raider or scavenger, ask if it wants to accompany us on our next course of action for a share of the loot. (Assuming a secure frequency can be obtained)

If it has plans to leave for a gate anytime soon, offer to escort it. Once you get it to the gate, lie in wait nearby for actual prey to come along.

If it wants no dealings with us, proceed with the previously planed action.

Our target should be the Ignothal ship on the bottom left whenever it leaves. No point messing with one of the factions we have slightly better relations with.

Seeing as I have yet to put up diplomacy, I will say here that all races get a +5 to dealings with their own. There are too many common enemys for these races, making them quite solidary in that regard.

Also, not trying to push into any direction – just making all possibilities available that seem viable enough. Reduces questions and one-lined responses. ;3
Else, not that much of an update. Well, decisions.

Log - Stranded: Day I
Galactical Hour: 16:00

Hailing your kin, it seems extremely pleased to see you [18+5-2=21] and reveals itself to be from the area connected by the second-gate. It is mining rare ores in there, but it was able to land itself an opportunity to do so in the area of the local Protervee where it hopes to turn a better profit. Seeing as you very well could end up there, you ask for the position of your kin over at the next gate. It has no real qualms about sharing this information [9+5-2=12], and you have made note of it.

You bring up the matter in a non-promising way, and indeed it would be more than pleased [16+5-2=19] to have your escort to said Protervee-inhabited regions. While it did encounter some of the local law-keepers on the way to here, it won't mind the extra protection, nor the company. The Protervee dislike sharing their exact coordinates, and it stays true to them in that matter [7-5-2=0], you would need to come with it if you want to find them easily.

Actively considering the Light Ignothal-Cruiser, you realize that the smaller craft is most likely faster than you. Following it undetected, and even gaining on it would only be possible if it is fully ladden with wares, or has an underclassed engine. From your position you can not tell any of that, and it would also take multiple scans with your Enhanced Sensory Organ to do so. Somebody would be bound to notice that thou, and you should have a real convincing story ready by then.

Spoiler: Skithy (click to show/hide)

How to proceed?

Additional Info may come later in the day, depending on stuff.

Escort your new friend where it is going. Chat it up along the way.

Ask what it knows about the Ignothal raiders in the area. We could pick on them and the lawmen might not even care...

If you feel that you can trust it, mention your line of work and ask if it has any trouble with competition from Atano or Ignothal miners that you could *ahem* deal with.

Well then, here we go.

Log - Stranded: Day I
Galactical Hour: 16:30

Thinking about it, you feel like helping your kin-thing is a good idea – not only did it give you information, but by helping it you will gain some more. A good deal for you both, as you see it. The borders of the Protervee are about 6 Light-Minutes at the nearest, and from there they are scattered along the belt for about 15 LM – while they do have the greatest presence in this system, they are not very centralized.

After you have left the station, you start of by asking it about the Ignothal raiders. It awnsers promptly [11+5-2=14], but only knows the rough outline [8] of it all. They seem to be very organized is all the news that it can tell you about them. You also reveal your true occupation [[3+5-2=6] and Thar'sh informs you that it will not help you in such matters, as it does not seek trouble of that sort. It rules it as a personal matter thou, and obviously wont spread word about it.

Day II
Galactical Time: 6:45

You have traveled 3 LM into the direction, when you meet a Protervee Ship. You hail her [8+/-2=8], but she does not talk about anything of note, besides you being on the right way.

Day II
Galactical Time: 16:45

Another 2 LM further, you happen upon a Light Atano Cruiser, and for whatever reasons he is feisty enough to even get pretty far into your weapon-range [16]. Seeing your racial enemy that close up and uncaring has even fired up your companion [20-7=13], and it would be willing to participate in the battle should you give it a fair share of the loot. Sure is an opportunistic thing, that Miner. The whole matter does seem a bit sketchy thou – either way, you have to decide a course of action.

Thar'sh informs you of its equipment. It has only Standard Organs, and its Mining-Utilities. It does however have a serviceable Rock-Dissolving-Accelerator [1d1 Shields, 1d3 Hull, 2 Reach], should it come into close quarters to the ship – seeing as boarding is one of your racial standard-tactics, this would be very in line with it. For that purpose it would have 5 Spawns – half of your number, but with both of you boarding the ship it would be almost impossible for them to have more defenders inside.

That is, if you want to proceed with the attack. It would be prudent to think of what you want to do exactly, if you should decide to take the risk.

Spoiler: Skithy (click to show/hide)

Obligatory questions are obligatory. Should you wonder, encounters are mainly based on distance traveled and do take the strength of the local races into account. I took the liberty of not asking about the Protervee-Ship further, trusting that you would not want to succumb to attacking the race we currently are traveling to.

Also, for the sake of our patience, I will run the combat along until we reach a point that needs a real decision out of you. So give me what you want to do and I will adhere to it. If you even want that fight, that is.

Question – do you care about the diplomacy and opportunity-checks? Else I just might leave some of them out of there. Not like I would not do so already, but asking never hurts.

Envision having a crew member stick their head out the window and spit at the enemy.

Prepare weapons but open communications.

Question: Is it possible to take an Atano captive? Or do they just self destruct and transfer their intelligence when cornered?

Also, Scan the bastard to see if it is worth the trouble.

You decide to wait for their reaction – and your scan, before you decide the further course of this encounter. If you had an organ for the famed Acid Phlegm – able to burn through the hull of ships at an alarming rate -  you would consider spitting some of that onto the ship, but sadly you currently have no possession of it. Sure, the shields would hold out against it just fine, but it would get your message across nicely.

Thus, you leave it with a little crackle on the neutral channels, indicating that you are open to talk. You also get Energy flowing towards your Weapon-Chambers , and soon [In two rounds] you will be able to shoot both of your weapons. The Scan goes pretty well [13] and you catch a glimpse of their quarters and cargo. It seems that most of the crews are in standby-mode [16] – the Atano do like to cut down on costs – and  if you act fast this would definitely be in your favor. Their cargo is nicely filled [10] and might actually be worth the trouble.

The com crackles back, and the Atano-Captain seems very displeased by the current situation[3-2-10(hostile acts)=-9/1], sending a slew of racial insults and threats your way. The later is actually quite amusing, considering his current situation. The energy readings indicate that he also fired up his weapons, but you have no idea what those will be – there are protectors over the sockets afterall, and in line with their function only enhanced sensory equipment – or organs, mind yourself - will be able to peer through them.

They do change their course thou, seemingly not that interested in open conflict with you. At this rate, them getting away just might happen – better decide fast.

Up till now you have not done anything that would be considered illegal by other races, and could surely let them go along. The question is if you want to.

Interstellar communication is very difficult, and is not integrated in the Atano Immortality-Mechanism. If you control their ship and or quarters – where said mechanism is placed – you can take them somewhat hostage, as long as you soundly defeat them. They can always build a new backup-unit after all. Else, you basically would have the chance of killing them, and then taking their regenerated bodies hostage. Not sure what that would entail, except you wasting resources on their revival, but very possible indeed.

I do not deny the possibility of us taking the ship over, but taking care of it will be very difficult indeed. We could send another spawn over there every 12 hours – they are meant to fight, and this is just their time-limit before they need a recharge. It would be in no state of mind to do more than flying it thou. If the ship is kept close to us, it would work. That way we obviously could strip it down in full, or other shenanigans.

It is very unsuited to be controlled by a Kathervan, and while we would need a slew of adapters, it could work in theory. In practice, we are unable to grow another one by our self. That takes multiple Kathervan. It also takes quite a lot of resources, – mainly sustenance but also a lot of energy – all points which we currently have no access to.

On another note, not promising gif's or anything, but smaller skirmishes might be done in that way. Or rather, I will try it the first few fights and then decide if it is worth it.

I was thinking more along the lines of taking prisoners and interrogating some to find more Atano to fuck with down the road, not seizing the ship.

Open Fire. Aim for their engines first. Then the weapons. Instruct Thar'sh the advantage belongs to it if it tries to board quickly, and that it should try to score a hit or two to the enemy crew quarters as it pulls in.

The situation is sketchy, so tell Thar'sh you will not will not be boarding just in-case it is a trap and more Atano are waiting for us to board the bait ship and become vulnerable. We will cover Thar'sh in case of such a trap.

Thar'sh is not really all that against your plan [9-2=7], but wants half of your own spawns as backup, should none of you hit the quarters, or dash out other critical damage. You guess this will be as good as you will get from it, and reluctantly agree.

Noticing that the energy buildup of the fiendish Atano is quite slower than yours [16], you guess you at least got a fast one on him in that regard. You notice a few moments later, that it gains on both of you at an impressive rate. Before your weapons even have been charged, it is out of your reach. Guess that was the reason why they were so cocky in the first place. You are unable to do much more than listening to their taunting on the com, their smug escape much to their liking. You just cut the feed and move on, seeing as nothing noteworthy happened.

Day II
Galactical Hour: ~18:00

You prepare to travel the last LM, but around halfway you stumble upon a single Ignothal Scout. Thar'sh tells you that he wants none of it [14-7=7], but for whatever reasons, it glides by straight in front of you [20]. Taking a closer look, it is not difficult to see why, as it is in a most sorry state [1]. Taking the liberty to take a scan on the unmoving object [17+5=23], you see the following:

Spoiler: Ignothal Scout (click to show/hide)

How unexpected - How to procceed with this matter?

Spoiler: Skithy (click to show/hide)

What happened there with the Atano?  They got a 20 on their ship-status, with the next rolls putting most of it into their engine. Instead of the already high movement of 6, they got a 9. Even with their cargo, they got a 7 out of that. Away like the wind, before our weapons were even fully charged.

Hey, at least the RNG is as random as he should be - just see what the dice did to the travel-check. This really is turning out more random than I acutally would have imagined, let's see if it keeps up - then it might be needed to tweak the system a bit.

Else, I do think the familiar needs some love again...

Hail the bastard. Don't want to drag our friend into piracy situations if he doesn't want in on it.

Offer safe passage to the asteriod we are going to in exchange for letting us salvage the ship. Give Thar'sh a share of the loot if the stranded energy being agrees.

If the Ignothal refuses our offer, note the direction it is drifting so we may come back and do pirateish things to it later without incriminating Thar'sh
