That's right! I'm letting you guys have some say over my next adventure (or tell me not to make another adventure whatever).

Basically I'm not in the whole 'build a village' mood right now and I'd like to know what you guys want to see. I'm not looking for plot outlines or anything just the genre theme and setting.  Ideally I'll be doing an adventure that I want to make and you want to see.

The only real restriction is that I'm in the mood for something sci-fi, anything from '20 minutes into the future' to a 'space opera' is fine.

Also just keep in mind this isn't a 'make this adventure for me' thread.

Various ideas:

-We are an alien queen/parasite/whatever, invented by the players, and the goal is to take over a city/planet. Alternatively, we are a scout for a later invasion and we need to scout/weaken the area. Another alternative is to be against them. Game is centered around killing humans and claiming the place. Building is not a major part of the game.
-The Thing: an alien infiltrate a ship/colony, in order to horrifically slaughter all the humans. Can be a suggestion game on either side or a versus game with heavy PM use.
-Archeology: unearth ancient alien artifacts/ruins! Generic-And-Probably-Evil-Future-Corporation&Co cannot be held responsible for any laceration/incineration/maiming/dismemberment/noming by alien mechanisms/organisms/others.

First I will say something about your games:
What I like about your games:
-Not everything is written, so the reader has to be perceptive.
-There is an universe with problems and a story created beforehand to keep us busy.

Things to consider:
-Religion has proven to be a good way to make things interesting. That way, there are conflicts guaranteed, as even if the players try to be peaceful they will find enemies.
-Actions aren't well displayed because of the nature of your pictures. You can always do adventures, but village/city administration games are best suited for your art style. (This is just what I see, go ahead with whatever you want to do, anyway).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About the theme of the adventure, well, it has been suggested a post-apocaliptic scenario. I won't oppose to that, as it generates a tension atmosphere, can have survival elements, and still have SUPAH TECH WIPONS. (Disregard my joke about zombies)

I like your art style. Never really said this, but that one adventure with Mayard was great. Here's an idea: instead of making a suggestion game, why not do an illustrated RPG? It could be top down and minimized like Build a Village. Players would try to survive in the world they've been plopped down into.

We are a crew on a spaceship and are trying to mine things. Not really a "build a village", more of a "give orders to crew to go to a station and press buttons"

+1. The Elite style games are popular for a reason.

Something like this sounds like lots of fun.

Or maybe there's this huge interstellar spaceship, and a handful of people have woken up from cryo and need to do something?

Or a small mining ship / slow travel ship gets to its target and the crew awakes.
Slow travel requiring cyro or people living on the thing...

Make an illustrated RPG (or maybe not an illustrated one) where the players are the future equivalent of stoner college kids going on an interstellar road trip on their rather wealthy parents' dime. Fly right into an intergalactic one-way portal by accident! Visit intergalactic monuments! Fight space battles! Contract space diseases from totally innocent-looking aliens! Pass the (future equivalent of a) blunt with said aliens and laugh afterwards! Pick up mysterious hitchhikers from planets you really should have no business being on! Take silly pictures in ancient precursor ruins! And finally, consider how you might get home from here.

Not sure if I have much business being here, being unfamiliar with that village-building thing, but just thought I'd propose the idea.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Space Opera sounds pretty neat, no?

While I personally would go for something along the lines of a scheming militant - or someone who grows into that role - it could easily be more on the lines of politics, economics and - lastly - war, between the different planets that surround you or make up your current faction - or worse, are not even part of it. With your already mentioned pre-crafted universes, you yourself could also easily lay down how much divergence - speak "work" - you would like to take on into making it. Like x different races / shiptypes / number of planets. We could start anywhere in a position that is at least likely to get into the bigger picture, if played right.

By that line of thought, something about being a trader might be very nice - profit and random encounters galore. An inter-galactical trading-simulation. I really like the possibilities of that one. Just think FTL - with a real cargo bay and without the battle-mechanics, but full of "non-repeating" custom encounters instead.

I'd quite like a game where the people are boarding and repairing a derelict station, managing trade with passing traders while trying to set up some kind of profitable venture and reactivating/exploring parts of the station which have been abandoned for-who-knows-how-long and contain who-knows-what. Possibility of mad !SCIENCE! and dwarven asteroid miners.
