Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Wait for him to get back in. Then when time is up thank him for letting me work with him. Then get out of there with my cash and look for a job in space.

"Um... I have a question. What can't I walk away from? I'm a bit confused here. What are you talking about?"

Try to remember how I got here after asking questions. If the guy doesn't answer, try to stealthily probe him for psychic susceptibility. He seems a tad crazy, so he wouldn't be too on-guard mentally, eh? If he is susceptible, subtly introduce a mounting phobia of laser knives in his mind.

Search for job opportunities and make a list of all possible jobs, their payment and details at the current time. Contemplate past employers for possible job openings.

Walk behind him, and Delve into his mind to discover what the briefcase feels like on his fingers. Grab it, and alter his mind so it feels like he is still holding the briefcase, and when he looks down he still sees the briefcase.

If this works, walk away behind him slowly and try to make it look to him that I don't have the briefcase, and put it in the pocket of my coat if it fits, and under the coat if it doesn't. If he sees through this, attempt to alter his mind so it looks like a random passerby is holding the briefcase and I am not.

If the shit hits the fan, attack his mind so he is too busy trying to get me out of his mind to fight back against me when I pull out my gun and shoot him in the head, then run.

As the elevator smoothly began ascending to floor 50, Jim took a deep breath and momentarily closed his eyes considering the task that was set before him ((what exactly is my mission?)).  With his trench coat removed, Jim must have looked rather intimidating with the many different murderous tools strapped to various parts of his body.  He decided to check each of them individually to ensure they were easily accessible and properly loaded.  Everything looked fine...  The elevator doors slid open and out walked Jim.  Ahead of him were two security guards immersed in conversation.  Suddenly noticing the newcomer, they turn, just as Jim uses his delving ability to make one guard attack the other or at the very least tries to mentally stun them.  Losing no time, Jim also removes his hip mounted beam pistol and prepares to fire it if necessary.

((So I assume by my apparel, I'm meant to kill or destroy but what exactly is my target?  Also how quickly does delving work, how good am I at it, how much concentration does it take, etc))

Kill the businessman. You'll know him when you see him; at this hour there won't be anyone else inside the building. We've timed your infiltration so that he'll be heading in your direction just as you finish making your way inside.

Delving is instantaneous, and all non-latent psychics instinctively know how to use these powers, they simply have varying degrees of power, but for the sake of progression you guys are all somewhere around the bottom rung. The other delvers have the right idea. You can't outright control people but suggestion is within your powers. Urgh.. I really hate doing this 'yardstick' stuff..

Scott sighs, his weathered face scrunching into a half-frown before opening up the dark case.

Poor RAM has been offline for a couple days now. I'll give him one or two more and then bump the next guy on the waitlist up into his spot. I really hope I don't need to do that.. :C

So in the meantime, thoughts on how your first jobs are going to go?

Not too well, in all likelihood. After all, we are still amateurs.

Since I'm bored, and not very good at keeping secrets, I'm just going to reveal some of the missions right now. Don't open those spoilers unless you want to know what they are.
