What should we tell the mountainhome?

A - Long live the King, Baron up and join the mountainhome for good.
B - Long live our own ends, distance the Fort from the mountainhome for good.
If both votes are tied, RNG decides. A vote placed here will be strategically wasted.

It's on hold for now, so don't hold your breath just yet.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Amberfortune is back and proper updates shall resume. A quick review of her defences and her state of being reveals not a pleasant existence; a marksdwarf and a child were hospitalized the moment I unpaused the game by a Kobold thief and a Goblin thief respectively, Troglodyte herds have suspended all burial jobs temporarily by moving into the cavern trail most used by corpse haulers and a review into the patients has revealed that at some point in the past the doctors were all hospitalized by berserk patients. And a blizzard has once again started.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Commander Goden is stoically resilient against the hardships of Amberfortune; throughout tragedy he is beginning to dine on the benefits of command as roasts are delivered to his command bunker.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Another casualty in the defence of Amberfortune. This was a very brave marksdwarf.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
When mortally stabbed by the Kobold the marksdwarf continued to attack it even without the use of functioning legs. The Kobold escaped, but it was a valiant effort by the marksdwarf.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
A Forgotten Beast stormed the slade Fortress. Besides some literally insane and suicidal Dwarves or some Dwarves who physically couldn't leave the awful construct because they were crippled, the Beast met little resistance.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Got your nose! Amongst other organs.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
It's currently making its way up the cavern layer; I am currently pondering which squads I will send to fight it. It has poisonous blood and the last thing I need is more illness spreading through the trenches, so I may execute any survivors who fight the FB through exile and quarantine.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The welfare of the Fort is at an all time low. I'm not fond of these Dwarves who stand on the fence between life and death; I expect them to pick a side and stay there. I may have to begin pruning the ranks again. The FB has arrived at an opportune time.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
One of the new recruits was battle tested and ran full ahead of the entire army, taking on a Forgotten Beast on their own. They were promoted to Vanguard at once, and were pivotal to killing such a formidable creature with ease.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
This beast on the other hand has proved impossible to dislodge. So far we've lost 16 Dwarves and an entire squad over 3 attacks, during which the only damage the beast sustained was that one Dwarf managed to rip its shell off before she died of her wounds. All deaths were caused by incineration.

9 squads stand at full strength, 5 at below full-strength/have lost their officer, 2 are all but wiped out. Of the 9 squads at full strength only 5 can so far be counted on to hold steadfast, part of the issue with dealing with the firebeast is that many of the new recruits couldn't stand the heat of the fire or the sight of their comrades being burnt and so they fled instead of fighting.

With Amberfotune having run out coffins unnecessary conflicts are to be avoided.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Transferal or riches into the slade vault is taking place. A tunnel is supposed to be dug from the former amber vault (now ice Fortress) but there is a considerable lack of available miners due to death, insanity and many of the miners preferring ice duty to mining duty. The lowest level of the slade vault is entirely devoted to rough and cut amber opals.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The second level houses all manner of gems, precious metal bars and coins as well as valuable silk brocades and bolts of fine cloth.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The third level would house the Fort's masterwork armour and weapons; unfortunately it has none. It just houses weapons and armour.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The fourth houses the same as the second, gems, bars, coins and silk riches galore.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Moving the barracks into the booze stockpile was an innocuous choice that was supposed to allow soldiers to not die of frostbite when the outdoors was hit by a blizzard, but it's also had the effect of concentrating dissatisfied soldiers in an enclosed space surrounded by other heavily armed and dissatisfied soldiers. It seems I don't need the goblins to show up to see a good fight; one of the more recent brawls has involved one Dwarf trying to bite through another Dwarf's bronze breastplate.

Definitely! I do believe I'm done neglecting this fort, and Amberfortune is now back on top of my gaming priorities.

Rather fittingly for my return to the Fort, the first thing I saw was a Dwarf who had died pulling a lever whose purpose I can't remember. Can't remember who the Dwarf was either, for that matter.

I am saddened to say that in our continued battle against Sizir the fire blob we have lost a crossbow and an iron spear. Some Dwarves may have also died.

There was a riot in the booze stockpile after several Dwarves died and the miasma choked everyone as their bodies rotted. Military Dwarves sent to solve the issue were encountered with resistance much like the one in the pic above (with that one in particular coming from an incident involving a rioting recruit throwing their axe at a macedwarf).
So far there's 3 confirmed deaths in the riot, with 2 dogs also having been killed in the chaos. 4 suicides also occurred and several patients died from lack of treatment. A few more Dwarves went stark raving mad. The good news is we're closer to taming the rodent people, with the first rodent baby undergoing dwarven education (unfortunately this one is a boy, so not as useful in regards to creating a tame generation). In addition, the number of Dwarves becoming jades may be increasing during all of this.

Well I'm hard pressed to find time for Amberfortune against my other Forts and playthroughs. I may just upload the save and let you mad Overseers take over, if anyone's interested. How about it?
