"Where's everyone else? Wouldn't their smoke alarms have woken them up?"

"All turned into coffins. The Dark Hour does that to normal people."

"Maria!"  Conny goes over to her, looking worried.

Selina pales at the sight of Maria hurt, not sure what to do. (She hasn't realized she only has a blanket of clothes keeping her decent yet.

"Wait, 'Dark Hour'? As in, a specific hour of a day? Wouldn't most people die from having their coffin set on fire?"

[IamanElfCollaborator]

"It's not a place, it's a time. A time during when Shadows take over the damn place and all normal people turn to coffins, water and most fluids turn to blood. And the moon looks bloody scary."

Richard hauls Maria onto a table.


"And the coffins are immune to most harm, except being directly forced open. If the fire was caused by Shadows, we should be fine."

[Empiricist]

"Oh. Can't we just convince a bunch of our friends to stand in a circle around us just before it starts so that we'll be protected?"

"Yes, and if there's flying Shadows, which there are, we're doomed, right?"

Annie sets about healing Richard and Maria.

"What happened to you two?" Conny looks really worried.

Selina gets off of her table, her coverings falling off, and tries to see if she can help Maria.

"We could summon some of those things you just summoned and get them to put a few coffins over us as a roof."

"That seems a bit like cheating. And something tells me some of them can fly... yes."

She frowns. "How annoying. Alright. So. What about when they come back to being human in a burning ruin at the end of the hour?"

"Shadows ambushed me and Anna here, I took the hit. We went to find Maria and Alistair, found Maria. She got jumped by a Shadow.

Also, the other reason it wouldn't work is to normal people,the Dark Hour doesn't exist. To them, we vanish and then reappear where we were when we leave the Dark Hour. And Yuri, who started the fire?"

"The current one? Some sort of creature caused a large flaming explosion."

"Oh. We should be fine. They can't hurt buildings. Unless special shit, like the Full Moon. But we're about two days from one."
