So I apparently have a Gunsmithing Savant now, how good is this thing anyway?

Not good for stabbing things, but I'm sure a rifledwarf squad leader would love to fire that thing.

Just had two very DF moments.

One, I realized I was on the edge of my seat in regards to a battle. I was not so attentive about the battle's outcome, but about whether my legendary axedwarf would get recovered before he died of thirst. He had a broken left knee, and the race to get him into the hospital was nail biting. Not the battle...the dragging a wounded dwarf 10 steps inside. It was a fight not against orcs or giants, but against a party and storing items in a pile.

Two, a dwarf has had a dented hand since this fort began, and apparently can do any chore except cleaning herself, which she announces repeatedly whenever she wants to clean. Well, she just had a baby, and apparently is too hurt to seek infant. My DF moment was when I realized I was trying to come up with an elaborate magma trap to rid myself of her log spamming. Probably spend the next year of in game time setting up a way to stop the spam...

Food-borne illness? Didn't I have enough to worry about with undead giant ospreys and grimelings?

You have a few options. Make her a golem. Sacrifice her to Armok in the religious buildings.  Or have her join a guild. The transformation reactions of guilds heals dwarves. Of course that's a little cheaty. Sacrifice her for epic loot.

Undead and white tigermen were driven off, largely due to a combination of the two bowdancers picking off zombies (it seems elvish bows hit hard enough to crumple a zed with one hit,) and the dwarves beating the ever loving shit out of everything with their maces and hammers. Had the not had the animate nes though the white tigermen would have probably slaughtered us, as they kept bailing my dwarves out of a tight spot.

Got knocked down Colonel? YOU HAMMARS ARE TO RESCUE! *Breaks the offending tigerman's knees* We did have a baby injured by a kobold who slipped in between caravans afterwards, and during the zombie assault a farmhand got the shit beaten out of him and only survived thanks to an elf diving on the zombie and beating the crap out of it with his jitte. Speaking of which, those things really should be replaced with a proper sword. Being blunt and made of mithril leaves those guys horribly equipped to face anything. But I digress

The humans arrived with four shiny steel muskets already bayoneted just like I wanted, along with some ammo for them. THe Fortress Guard lucked out when I had a squad created and got The Thunderous Boots for a name so I'm keeping that and issuing them the rifles. Sure that means beatings will probably be more... Well, legal stabbings, but still. So far so good for them, just need to build a jail and such and hope production order violations don't become a serious problem.

EDIT

A colossus made of gold. Time to see what beating on it with a bunch of hammers does.

If I was a kobold, minding my own business, and one day a giant statue 1000 times my size appeared, I think I'd worship it too.

It took an ingame week of Col. Skazul wailing on it with a cobalt warhammer and all of his animate hammers getting broken but eventually it was decapitated by a solid bash to the head. Dunno where the body went, as I know coati, kobolds, and leprechauns failed to make off with it.

I now have a legendary armorsmith and a orichalcum breastplate.
I can now die in peace.

Edit: I just realized he named the artifact after himself. Wow.

I was besieged by the war elephant on my second year, not sure if that is common, but I broke their morale when they entered my stone flinging trapped hallway. I also caged several of them when they broke rank and run away. Soon afterward on the animal screen I found several war elephant babies. So five of the seven caged war elephants was female, and four of them was pregnant. They gave birth to a lot of calves, and I am now setting those calves to be tame. What would happen after I tame the calf and set the cage to be release? Will my tamed elephant babies attack their own mother? Will I find myself with an army of war elephant? Tune in later to find out.

But seriously, what will happen. Can anyone tell me before i set out to do this.

The kids should count as pets, the parents are still hostile.

Does that mean there will be a blood bath? Should I do it? Should I tamed the elephant and set them upon their own parents? Didn't something like this happen before in history?

Why not leave the parents alone, and just release the kids to be tamed?

:o Are you telling me to build up my army of war elephant and then set them on their parents? Now Meph that is just too barbaric. Wonder why I didn't think of that first!

They can release the individual elephants while keeping the hostile one's in the cage.
