PuppetedHarmonized is now entering the winter of its sixth year. Things have finally quieted down after a series of warlock ambushes, one of which claimed the life of the fortress' sole Legendary Hammerdwarf. The fortress is likely safer without him, as he managed to murder two dwarves within fifteen seconds of being accidentally appointed to Captain of the Guard. Hammered an Apostle of Armok to a pulp while she was praying (BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!). Incidentally, this is the longest-running Masterwork fortress I've managed, meaning the longest-running fort with an FPS counter. So far the lowest it's gone is 40-something, but I am postponing "Project Magma Coaster" until my minions stop partying long enough to seal off some unnecessary areas.
We also had a bit of a close call with a Frost Giant Thief. It went after a drow caravan that was unloading its goods, scaring the shit webbing out of their drowspider mounts. Long story short, drow merchants aren't web-avoid and marksdwarves love nothing more than plunging beard-first into webbing. I eventually used dfhack to flood the depot, given that none of my civilians were dwarfly enough to flood it with buckets. This does raise the question of how Drow caravans ever get anywhere, given that they probably get webbed every two hundred feet. Maybe that's why we're still in decent political standing, despite the fact that only one drow caravan ever managed to trade successfully?
The fortress is still waiting on any sort of goblin attack. Sure we had a snatcher or two early on, but we've since had two orc sieges and a warlock siege, and there's nary a gobbo in sight. It's not like we need the xCave Troll Loinclothsx, but the fortress feels empty without goblin prisoners to beat on. Plus, the orcs are usually too smart for the trap corridor. The glassmakers worked hard on that! We even managed to get a gnome ambush, which was just plain depressing. Hopefully we'll see a diplomat soon--for such a technologically advanced and intelligent race, they're not so great at tactics/avoiding axes to the face.
