And to be more specific: I'm fairly sure that there are exactly two enemies in the game who you cannot avoid being damaged by.

Flowey and Asriel. Flowey because of this shit and Asriel because his first attack after you SAVE him for the first time is ridiculous. If that attack actually is unavoidable, though, I guess they just wouldn't count it.

Hey, you can totally no-hit Omega Flowey. That attack just pops up if you spend too long in the zone where his regular attacks can barely hurt you at all. Pretty sure he later posted a No-Hit for the fight.

precious goat child's BS attack is literally designed to kill you off to show off BUT IT REFUSED, as well as the JUST LET ME WIN (which is more a cinematic). Sans's grand slam does a max of like 40 damage if you're on full HP, but does less the less HP you're on, and cant kill you.

Goatbro's magic missile killing you is also important because of the dialogue/story bits. Getting your shit kicked in is supposedly making it harder to recover and keep fighting (though obviously the fight is engineered to be unlosable anyway, so it's not like it matters).

As for Omega Flowey, it's all about keeping in motion. Flowey won't stop spitting shit at you, so you can't stop either.

A battle between player and character would give Fox the ultimate chance to screw with the gameplay in new, terrifying ways (which he'd love, I'm sure).

That would be the equivalent of attacking yourself at that point, since they're less an individual and more a part of you, regardless of appearing with a body. Fighting Frisk would make more sense.

Although it'd be fucking hilarious if you could kill them and they'd just pop right back up because you broke the game's limitations and grew to LV 21, thus respawning them.

Fighting Frisk would be horrible but interesting. Here's how I picture it: they wouldn't attack, they would alternate between sparing you or doing increasingly desperate acts (Frisk tells you a joke! Frisk flexes! Frisk compliments you! Frisk offers a hug! Frisk begs you to stop! Frisk is crying!) before finally fleeing. In the end, to complete the genocide run, you have to kill Frisk while they're hiding from you.

A line of dialog would pop up: the only time Frisk ever directly speaks. Just before they die, they ask why. Why did you kill... Well... everyone?

Chara answers for you: because they were there.

I wish for a genocide ending where Alphys remembers to call ASGORE after Undyne's death, and he absorbs the SOULs.

I feel that the no mercy run shouldn't end with something super cool.  I mean OK there's the Sans fight but from the perspective of the unspoiled that's more of a punishment.

It definitely shouldn't end with a "good" ending like killing Chara or taking control of a monster.
