Snare Traps

saying if there is a type of traps not to use mechanisms, only rope, this trap would have the disadvantage of only being placed around a tree, also trapped animals could escape or break the trap depending on the materials or number of strings within the trap.

Also, a detail is that it can be activated by vermin, but when this happens you can not catch them for their size.

Update

-Task only for Trapper
-Useful for Aquifer, Desert and Stoneless Embarks
-Can be made with any type of Rope, including Chains
-A simple trap (Pig Tail Fiber Rope x1) can be used for vermin
-Intelligent creatures will scape, but hanging there will get fun

So, instead of a cage trap it'd be a net trap that takes cloth and rope but no mechanisms? This would be great for stoneless/hippie embarks. Though if we can't catch the vermin with it, it probably shouldn't trigger. Imagine how bad it would be for your net to trigger with that alligator you've been after nearby. Suddenly you'd have an Alligator named Bob munching on Urist''s left-upper arm.

Would this be an additional function of the Mechanic or would the Trapper get this? Also, would intelligent creatures be able to get out easier as long as they, or a nearby ally, have a weapon with a sharp edge?

Deepblade's Standardized Creature Parts, for when you're pissed about all the different types of animal products there are.

yeah, it could be a job for the Trapper, because the mechanismless trap don't require the Exp of a Mechanic and our Trappers only have the task of catch vermin.

net trap that takes cloth and rope

It depends of the amount of materials used in the trap, like a weapon trap that use at least 10 weapons.

Maybe the Snare Trap (Pig Tail Fiber Rope x1) could be the only designed to catch vermin.

and at last:

Yeah, cloth, yarn and silk are too soft and fragile and can be cut with a sharped edge weapon, but remember that you also have available iron chains as materials.
By the way, if your dwarves can collect it stuck, there's nothing to stop other creatures can do, imagine you're hanging upside down from a tree and now there's a group of hungry Lions around you.
