The Shifter raised the claw-shaped device. On the curved surface between the prongs were a pair of concentric circles, a line of twenty-six runes visible within. They all began glowing, the runes with an eerie green light, the circles with the same icy blue as the Shifter's flame.

Nine bursts of blue flame emerged from the center of the device, forming themselves into nine runes floating in a circle. To those who could read it, it spelled out "BEGINNING."

The device emitted a rather bright flash, and a the runes vanished, replaced with a shimmering wall. The Shifter raised its' other hand, the razor-sharp claws having a distinct shine to them, unlike the rest of its' body, and brought it down upon the wall, ripping a hole and opening the portal.

Open a portal. "BEGINNING"

((OOC: Sorry, no one was posting))
"Do not worry, friends. The doctor is in the house."

Introduce self. Then look around the island or help someone open a portal.
"Yeah, there was something about a Problem. Essence drain, judging by what this guy is... conveying. Thank you, Shifter. So, do we open a portal? Where to?"

Consider the number of Planes that are known, or at least the most commonly-known ones. Where could we possibly look?

EDIT: Once somebody starts making a portal, help them.

(autosuccess) K'ull Daweik introduces himself and then The Shifter starts opening the portal using his claw. Ted Carver and K'ull Daweik channel the essence to help him. As soon as the portal opens matter of the island under it starts moving and forms a frame around it, with the name "BEGINNING", thus stabilizing it, sounds like that's another reason why everyone was sent exactly to this matter island. For a bit The Shifter, Ted Carver and K'ull Daweik feel almost entirely drained off the essence, but shortly their essence gets restored by absorbing the ambient essence of The Subspace. Ted Carver tries to consider the common known names of the Planes but remembers that there aren't really any common ones, only very few essence creatures used this ability in the past.
Everyone enters the portal to check what's on the other side.

You get transported nearly instantly and as you enter there's very noticeable shift, the fact that there's no ambient essence, as long as you can remember yourself there was always ambient essence around, but now, it is not there, it's a little bit shocking at first but you start getting used quickly. Looking around you notice that you are in a pretty big cave area... and you are in some transparent liquid which makes movements difficult, on a plus side it makes flight less difficult, or at least you think it's flight. The liquid makes everything around look somewhat cyan-blueish and foggy, so it's difficult to look far, and there are a few stones around in the walls that produce light, you notice there are at least three passages in the walls of this cave area. And ofcourse the portal is there in case you need to go back.

The Shifter's physical appearance changed, shifting into a form more suited to movement in the environment. The flame within his head began dimming, and almost immediately the "cage" structure was replaced by a more solid shell, a transparent substance forming two "eyes."

The Shifter shifts into a more aquatic form and begins moving around, looking for more passages in the walls.

Praet looks around the cavern, then walks(or drifts, whichever's more applicable) towards the openings at the other end, brandishing his rifle in front of him.
He barks out in a odd and muffled, pre-recorded sounding tone, "I'm moving on ahead, troops. Cover me, if you would be so kind."

Head to one of the passages and take a look through.

(17, 20(1+1)) You look around a bit and notice that in a few places around ground is covered with blue vegetation formations, you haven't seen anything like that before. Then you move towards one of those light producing stones and attempt to grab it out of the wall. The stone is stuck hard in the wall, but after a bit of struggling you manage to take it out a whole. It's a bit warm.

Item get: Light stone x1, Total essence loss for this turn: 130

The Shifter shifts into a more aquatic form and begins moving around, looking for more passages in the walls.

(8, 5) You shift your metallic body around trying into form more suited for environment, you manage to get shell-like structure but with different form than you expected, which don't really helps moving in liquid, though it may help a bit in defense. You move around searching for more passages, but there don't seem to be any more than the ones you have seen already.

Total essence loss for this turn: 130, Status Effect get: Shell, Skill points acquired: Adequate Shapeshifter: +1

Praet looks around the cavern, then walks(or drifts, whichever's more applicable) towards the openings at the other end, brandishing his rifle in front of him.
He barks out in a odd and muffled, pre-recorded sounding tone, "I'm moving on ahead, troops. Cover me, if you would be so kind."

Head to one of the passages and take a look through.

(Passage roll: 3) You head through the passage roughly behind the portal, it gets darker for a bit but soon you reach another cave section. Looking around you see that stone formations in this one connect walls right through the middle, making it a bit confusing to navigate through.

Total essence loss for this turn: 70

Ted looks around, examining the peculiar place.

"Oh dear. I feel terribly out of place here for some reason."

Reshape self into cloth octopus.

"That's better."

Go explorin'. Get a feel for the place.


(19(3+1+1), 15) You use decent amount of essence, more than you expected, to turn yourself into a form of cloth octopus. Then you start exploring the cave area and you notice small, slightly hidden, passage in the ceiling that no one else noticed.

Total essence loss for this turn: 160, Status Effect get: Cloth Octopus, Skill points acquired: Adequate Shapeshifter: +3

"How odd."

Follow Praet.

You follow Praet into the Passage #3, soon reaching the cave area. (See SomeStupidGuy's action)

Total essence loss for this turn: 60

Let's see if one of these paths leads to an exit out of this murky substance.

(Passage roll: 2) You go through the passage roughly to the left from portal, it goes straight for a bit, then up, then it changes into the other direction. Soon you reach the fork, with one passage leading to the left, another to the right.

Total essence loss for this turn: 70

"Oh, it's getting interesting now. Great stuff."

Inspect glowing stones and surroundings for signs of civilization.

(3) You inspect the glowing stones, it doesn't seems to be obvious whether they are natural or not, so the only obvious sign of civilization around is the portal, if that counts.

Total essence loss for this turn: 60

Look around and help others search.

(8) You look around, but not noticing anything special you decide to follow Zirg into passage #2, soon reaching fork.(See Krath's action)

Total essence loss for this turn: 70
