Sanctuary- A Hard Beginning
« on: June 23, 2013, 07:33:01 am »

The Mountainhome as it's traditionally known was destroyed by the goblin hordes and a new government was placed. A group of dwarves started the Tamol Kirar, a resistance that fought the new goblin monarchy.
Sadly after many years of conflict the dwarves numbers have become unsustainable, farming from their forts has become impossible to produce enough food for themselves. The Tamol Kirar have decided to focus agricultural production to Bloodhollow. Mordicai Regtenshed was chosen to lead the a group of seven to start the outpost.

Mordicai's Log
1st of Granite, 1055- After a long trek through harsh lands and scorching heat we finally make it to Bloodhallow. I remember when the dwarves fled from the mountainhome, they came here to hide. It was called Rovol then. So much has changed since then...

Its warm here and there is a brook to the north hidden by some grass hills. I plan to have Mattimeo (Our miner) to dig some stairs near the brook so it will be easier to get water.

10th of granite, 1055- The cats are making a mess around here so I ordered the animals to be herded into a pen near the stairwell tell the outpost is carved out.

20th of granite, 1055- I've ordered the farming level to be carved out, while Mitsuru (our carpenter/woodcutter) and Kira (our mason/mechanic) build makeshift workshops to do their work.

16th of slate, 1055- we have grown tired of sleeping in dirt so I ordered for seven beds to be made.
we are running low on meat now so I ordered the yacks to be butchered.

1st of felsite, 1055- We finally got a farm plot up and have started production of plump helmets. Jigoro (our doctor) can't wait for the first barrel of booze to be made. It will be a wile before we can just leave a still on, but with stout labor come sustenance!

2nd of hematite, 1055- I've recently been talking with Seth (our farmer) and he's a pretty cool guy once you get to know him.
The bedrooms are finished and its time to take a relaxing nap.

Mordicai's Log

5th of Malachite, 1055- The first of the migrants have arrived among them was a fellow named Karne.

He's a shearer by trade and his wife is pretty badass.

Sadly I didn't catch her name but I'm sure I'll find out some time or another.

13th of Malachite, 1055- I moved the carpenter and mason workshops down to the main level of the outpost.

The wall is one fourth the way done and should be ready before the caravan comes to pick up what little food we have produced...
ARMOK'S BEARD I FORGOT TO BUILD THE TRADE DEPOT!!!!

Mordicai's Log
19th of Galena, 1055- I told the Kira were to build the trade depot but she hasn't gotten to it yet...
I also ordered a storeroom to be built below the living level to store building materials.

25th of Galena, 1055- we have sadly ran out of mushroom wine, sure it tasted like bile but it still got us drunk. Moral has taken a large drop due to it. I would order to make some more but we just don't have the plants to make booze, and feed ourselves, AND what remains of dwarven kind!

26th of Galena, 1055- We have finished the inner wall. I plan to do something like this

That way we can have some outdoor farms and have a safe place to fish!

4th of Limestone, 1055- Yes Kira finally decided to work on the trade depot and its finished. Now we have a proper way to load goods in to the wagons.

21st of Sandstone, 1055- Some more dwarves came to our little hole in the ground to help supply the Tamol Kirar. The caravan is supposed to arrive soon to pick up what little food we have to give.

14th of Timber, 1055- Finally the caravan has arrived with news from the front. The liason handed me a note from my brother which read

To- Mordicai
Greetings brother I trust all is well at this farming outpost you had to set up. I find it odd the Tamol Kirar sent you there, you are a pretty decent warrior and you should be fighting the goblins with me instead of managing a farming outpost.
in other news me and a few of the guys are going to charge the gate in a few months, we think we found an eye of the needle hidden deep in the mountains that scouts think leads right to the front gate. It should be fairly simple with a group of three of the most skilled warriors! HA HA HA!!!
From- Roland

I quickly wrote my letter to Roland.
To- Roland
Its good to here from you again Roland, I do so enjoy the letter you send me. To answer your question I was sent to help protect the wagon on its journey here.  I wish you are carful on your task but knowing you, you'll come out fine.
Hope to here from you soon.
From- Mordicai

I hand the envelope to the liason and I send him off with two barrels of plump helmets, a barrel of yack meat, and half a barrel of fish for some more seed bags, I've also asked if they could spare a few goats so we can produce meat. Now its time to enjoy the warm winter and relax...

Well, sweet save for the fact that seven dwarves and a brook would make it a slideshow. XP

Also, damn, I think that's the second time this year your brother has borked your keyboard. Maybe you should get a case or something.

8th Moonstone, 1055- Its a shame we could only turn up four meat barrels for the brave souls fighting but we are still a small farming community, I hope in the near future we can give them what every dwarf needs... Booze! We need to first feed ourselves though.

13th of Moonstone, 1055- The caravan has left and we prepare ourselves for the warm winter... Well that was easy! Time to relax by the brook and eat a nice plump helmet because that's all we have to eat. I have ordered  the farmers to  roduce some cave wheat and quarry bushes so we can have a bit of a variety but more importantly for distilling. I'm sick of just drinking water from the brook and so is everyone else. Just the other day Jigoro was yelling at me for not ordering a proper meeting hall to be built and I told him that we don't have anything to eat or drink! I mean come on how can we celebrate anything without food and drink!? After much bickering he finally wore me down and I ordered a makeshift dinning hall to be made. I hope you like it over walls!

4th of obsidian, 1055- After a long day I went to my apartment to shine my axe but to my surprise the axe vanished! I talked to Seth and he said he saw a kea pick it up and flew it away... "Seth you do know that a Kea needs to flap its wings a bit in order to lift itself up."
I told Seth "How does a small bird like a kea flap its wings fast enough to carry a copper battle axe?"
Seth looked at his toes and said. "Two of them carried it together..."
After a moment of awkward silence I walked away and took a well needed stroll to the surface.

Mordicai's quick update.

Apparently the Kea are a race of master thieves who have stolen a rope reed sock and a copper crossbow... DAMNIT SETH STOP HIDING THE WEPONS!

18th of obsidian, 1055- This is just great! A well over flooded and the dining hall is soaked! its going to be difficult to seal up the holes but it shouldn't be difficult.

26th of obsidian, 1055-  Finally we sealed off the flooded dining hall. It took eight days to seal it off... Wow guys...
