Exodius’ journal:
1st of Granite 132
I have been appointed overseer for our fair mountain home for next two years and even though I do not know how long I’ll actually last as the person who was supposed to be an overseer instead of me, I think he was called Artemis or something (sound very elfish if you ask me), had disappeared in mysterious circumstances shouting something about his sister. Nevertheless I’ll do my best to make sure our home is even better after my lead than it was before. As a member of the guard I never took much of an interest in economy of our fort so I had to conduct a meeting with our manager, bookkeeper and broker to learn what we have and what we need. I have also replaced old captain of the guard with myself as I do not want anybody but the queen breathing down my neck when I’m trying to do my job.
These are the notes I took during the meeting:
We have over 13,000 food units of both food and drink;
We have generated, as of 1st of granite 132, 2,485,691 copper coins worth of wealth;
Our population counts 224 dwarves, 82 of which are not old enough to do any actual work;
It also turns up we do not have any jail cells and we need at least 22 of them. I have already chosen unpopulated area to be prepared for renovation and adaptation to role of our criminal holding facility. It may have been planned as a living area by one of the previous overseers but I do not wish to dabble with unnecessary expansion when we have very good cells-to-be available. I have also took liberty in moving fortress guards barracks closer to jail to ensure quick response if any of the prisoners would be uncooperative;

ImageShack.usSpeaking of things that need to be built Her Majesty is complaining about her quarters being unsuitable for someone of her position, I will have to do something about that as well, but this is not a priority for me at the moment;
Another problem are animals, there are relatively not that many but they seem to get under everybody's feet and slow down work so I’ll need to either butcher them or cage the ones I cannot slaughter due to owners making a fuss.
