I keep getting lost in the fortress, but here's a small update.
Looted the goodies off the dead elves. Mostly cloth.
Set up and started soap production. Now the fortress will be marginally less stinky.
A child went to a better home.
Had a small kea problem. The duck didn't stand a chance.
Broke 1 million created wealth. Dwarves took up a vegetarian diet unwillingly.
Elf caravan came, bought out all their booze, food, and raw wood for a few large gems. Afterwards a had a pair of goblin ambushes led(?) by humans.
(forgot to take a screenshot of the second ambush).
They were easily taken out. Only injury was a broken arm.
Immediately after the ambushes a carpenter finished an exceedingly useful artifact.
When I was checking the health screen to make sure I didn't miss any ambush injuries. I found this nincompoop, with pet pet goose in tow, who managed to strand himself on top of a wall. I designated a ramp up to him to be built. We'll see if he survives til then.
Also, I drafted and outfitted a full squad of hammerdwarves. They're slowly training up.
We start out with another dwarven adoption.
Another child got taken, but the military managed to catch up with the snatcher.
Unfortunately, the goblin fell in the river. The child had a broken back, and no one was willing to try and save him. The fishies will eat well tonight.
The human caravan came. Traded for pretty much anything useful, including meat and fish to help relieve the dwarves from vegetarianism.
Suddenly, we had a bit of fun down by the magma forges.
A fire imp was the culprit. Military took him out easily. By the time they got down there three dwarves and a puppy had died.
While I was looking at the unit list, I noticed we had a visitor.
There was no announcement, and he was just chilling at the edge of the caverns. After a few minutes, he left.
A fancy mechanism got made.
More fallout from the fire imp incident.
The keas returned for more shenanigans.
Which did not last too long.
Pretty sure this happened during sparring.
An impressively sized caravan arrived. Once again, traded for anything useful. I also offered a couple iron discs in order to get us in the mountainhomes' good graces.
Kid from earlier finally dropped.
Two ambushes, one casualty.
Fancy table.
Wrapping up winter, we got three ambushes.
One death, several serious injuries(military and civilian). I don't think a couple of them are going to make it.
For some reason the rest of the fort has decided this injured dwarf doesn't need to go to the hospital.
Why hey think it's a good idea to wander around aimlessly out side the fort walls, I'll never know.
Still there. I've tried switching several dwarfs labors to just recovering injured.
Fancy. We've got a queen now.
Finally got the marksdwarf to the hospital. Looks like he's got permanent damage. He can use a crutch though, so I'm going to leave him in the squad.
For some reason the last caravan decided to leave all it's blood and ichor barrels in the trade depot(I sure as hell didn't trade for them). I couldn't get the dwarves to do anything with them, so I had to nuke em with DFhack.
I managed to anger the elven caravan this year. I have no idea what did it. I looked over what I offered several times, no wood to be seen. So I killed them all. Their horses too.
Useless artifact time!
Mined out the top portion of an adamantine pillar. Set up a workshop nearly and set a dwarf to only to processing duty.
Bridge to help protect against any accidents. Lever is in the dining room.
I know there are iron and steel shield floating around. Why are you using a copper one?
Okay, that's even worse.
Mining the adamantine pushed us over 2mil created wealth.
I have no idea what happened here.
Another death. After some investigating, I believe a magma crab was the culprit, probably what got the other guy too.
Early autumn we had a set of four ambushes. Lost the crutched marksdwarf.
The rest of the military ran off after the first ambush was dead and left him to fend off the second. It did not end well.
This is what happens when you haul your infant into battle(and use him as a shield, apparently).
After the third ambush was dispatched the fourth one ran off.
Been having trouble getting the dwarves to put on some damn clothes. There's crates upon crates of fresh clothing available, but I'm regularly dealing with naked tantrums.
How terrifying.
He immediately left the map after the announcement.
Final stats for my turn:
