Nope. He seems to be fine with not being involved. Other then his reply to the original offer of being involved when the kickstarter was unveiled he hasn't really interacted with the Cataclysm DDA project at all AFAIK.
He actually sent me an e-mail with a number of questions and a desire for clarification on various issues, and I did my best to provide them. He seemed happy with the response:
"Hey, thanks for the response!  You've put my mind at ease about a lot of things."

And then we talked about the Q&A update I have planned for this week, which will hopefully clarify any lingering questions people may have and will be based in larger part on the questions Whales has asked.

I actually did receive an e-mail from him basically saying he's okay and he'll say more later, but not giving any details about anything. So who knows what's going on there.

At the very least he doesn't seem to be dead or injured.
