Thralls, Husks, and Zombies
« on: June 21, 2013, 10:13:55 pm »

A silly question really, but what exactly is the difference between these three groups of undead? What exactly is a thrall or a husk and how do they differ from a zombie?

I am not 100% certain on the difference between thralls and zombies but I think thralls are essentially zombies who retain equipment and skills/attributes.  Husks are abominations before armok which can and will kill almost anything in the game at the moment.  About the only thing that will reliably kill them is smashing them with a bridge or cave in.  They can be beheaded or cut in half as well, but given the attribute increases, invulnerability to pain, dizziness, or other combat modifiers it is generally unwise to engage husks in combat.

ah, and thralls and husks are created by evil weather in evil biomes.  Zombies are (generally) the product of necromancers or a reanimating evil biome (there might be some weather that creates zombies as well I am not sure about this).

It's faster to write "!!science!!" than any of the synonyms: "mad science", "dwarvern science", or "crimes against the laws of god and man".

It doesn't mention that some zombies will be 'naturally spawned' animals in evil regions or made by a necromancer, but does describe the weather husks etc quite well

Jam a door with its corpse and let all the goblins in. Hey, nobody said it had to be a weapon against your enemies.

Zombies created by fog can sometimes behave really strange...

Those aren't zombies, they're Corpses (if they arrived on the map that way) or corpses (if they were made from an existing dead body). The difference between them is that Corpses retain their special attacks (eg. webbing) and can be turned into thralls / husks / zombies by evil weather.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
