"Model three hundred seventy-six," you tell the voice of what you think is Jonathan over the intercom.

"Ah, good. Can let you in now."

The door shutter opens, revealing an alcove with another shutter at the end. Supposing this is part of the entrance process, you go right in, and the shutter shuts behind you. There is a sound not unlike that of a vacuum cleaner for a moment, followed by jets of water spraying you from several directions. After a quick drying process, you feel altogether cleaner, as does the air around you. Then again, that might be because a little red light in your chemical suit's faceplate turned yellow, then green. You suppose it refers to the chemical composition of the air around you, because that's probably become a lot healthier right now.

Before you can devote too much attention to the funny little light, though, the inner shutter opens, revealing the austere, clean lobby of Bartolucci Data Processing. At the reception desk you can see a Jonathan. He seems to be regarding you with a measure of relief.

"Glad to see you back, Jasmine. The outside's pretty dangerous now. Good that you were wearing a chemical suit, too. Ms. Bartolucci wasn't so lucky."

So that confirms it, it really was dangerous outside. And oh dear, Ms. Bartolucci was outside as well? Without a chemical suit? My, you hope nothing bad's happened to her.

Everything except for the suit and the shrink. But do go to get clean clothing ASAP. Also a bit more scared for the first bit.

"Oh dear, Ms. Bartolucci was outside as well? Without a chemical suit? My, I hope nothing bad's happened to her," you say, sounding legitimately concerned as you voice your thoughts.

Jonathan looks at you strangely.

"Wait a minute, you went outside with her. And this other person she had with her. I remember it clearly. Why are you surprised at this?"

Ah. Um... this might be a bit difficult to explain. Maybe you can just awkwardly shuffle past the guy and take a ride down the elevator to your living space?

I sorta fell off a wall. Woke up in this suit lost and confused.

"My datalink shorted. Parts of today are ... fuzzy. Why did I go outside with ms. Bartolucci? I was supposed to have lunch with her in the dining hall. Wait ... you haven't answered my question. Did something happen to Ms. Bartolucci?"

You briefly consider vaguely lying about things you don't remember, but promptly reject this idea on the grounds that it's probably pointless to do so.

"My datalink shorted. Parts of today are ... fuzzy. Why did I go outside with Ms. Bartolucci? I was supposed to have lunch with her in the dining hall. Wait... you haven't answered my question. Did something happen to Ms. Bartolucci?"

Jonathan looks pleasantly surprised for a moment.

"Oh. I see. Well, I hear this can happen in new Jasmines, so don't you worry about it. You went outside with Ms. Bartolucci, presumably at her and her friend's behest - that information wasn't volunteered to me, I'm afraid. Ms. Bartolucci seemed to be in one of her moods, I'm afraid," he explains, expertly emphasizing the word "moods" to such a degree that the implied quotation marks leap at you like a rabid animal.

"I am glad to say, though, that Ms. Bartolucci is doing rather well for someone who just ran through several miles of a fog of the nastiest chemicals known to man. She seems to be recovering from the neurotoxic effects of the factory's emissions and was judged by our resident healthcare man to be in reasonably good condition and not require hospitalization. She has gotten very lucky, he says. Her friend did not return, though, and we haven't directly asked her about him yet."

Oh, that's a relief. You're not sure what you would do if anything bad were to happen to Ms. Bartolucci.

Yes, let's get changed. Then, let's go have a nice cuppa. (I think that means "cup of tea." My British is a little rusty).
Consider taking up painting as a hobby.

Feeling that you have nothing else to talk about, you go to the elevator and take a ride down to the living quarters on Sub-Basement Level 4, which is a pretty short ride, all things considered. You walk down the familiar hallway to the Jasmine Thyme dormitory wing, finding the door with the designation JT-376 and heading right in.

The room is just as you remember it, wonderfully enough - comfortable single bed, an end table with a lamp next to it, a closet for your uniforms, a rather plain desk that you haven't found the time and opportunity to fill with things important to you and that only features some stray office supplies, a small and rather cheap stool, and, finally, the therapist uplink, which kind of resembles a lounge chair specifically designed with your shape in mind, a rather goofy-looking white plastic helmet resting on the seat. The room is nice enough, though it is completely lifeless at the moment, without decoration or anything of the sort.

Finding nothing to particularly admire so far, you go and take off the suit and your rather bloody uniform (which you find somewhat alarming along with the inexplicable and painful burn on your abdominal area), the former of which you fold up and hang up in the closet for safekeeping and the latter of which you dump in the closet's inbuilt laundry chute. You then change into an identical uniform, and check yourself out in a mirror. You're not sure you've ever liked the purple polo shirt-like thing and black dress pants look, but hey, at least you look halfway respectable, and it is one of the standard Jasmine Thyme outfits.

As you wander back out into the room, its blandness gives you an idea. Maybe you could paint something for this room. After all, you've got a bit of free time. You think you've heard about a few Jonathans getting together along with a Francis or two in some kind of painting club.

However, before you can consider this, you realize that you really need a cup of tea. Unlike most employees, though, you have two choices - go to the natural cafeteria and hang with your fellow Jasmines or go to the engineered cafeteria and hope to meet somebody relevant to your interest in painting, perhaps. Oh, the choices you have.

Engied cafeteria. Get tea, find out where to get paint, and paint the walls.

Make a mental note to visit Bartolucci later.

perhaps seek medical attention for that alarming burn on our stomach before we do any of the other stuff. Then, tea, paint, visit.
