Well, let's say you're going away from Earth on huge spaceship and suddenly shit goes wrong and you have Super Mutants. Social Experiments prepared them for this.

Most nasty chemicals=Heavier than air, so they'd sink to the ground.

Dude...... Thats not really how it works... Sorry to say, but thats just messed.
Besides, think clouds of gaseous poison. Then think wind. Then think city. The wind takes the shit up, gets sped up by the buildings, and next thing you know our aircraft is melting. Besides, we are in a train station. Where would we get one? Any sane half-way good pilot would NOT go out in this shit or if he is they are going and dealing with the mess elsewhere.

Chlorine-Heaver than air
Methyl Isocyanate-Also heavier than air
Acetone-heavier than air.
There, three letal poisons, all heavier than air. Besides, our master is filthy stinkin' rich.

You feel good about the end of the armed conflict. Armed conflicts should end more often, really. They make one feel better. Still, you don't feel nearly good enough. Primarily because there's still the matter of carcinogens and irritants about to make an appearance in an atmosphere near you.

"Jerry's right, I think. We should stay indoors. Also, good stranger, I don't know what happened to the people, but I do know that many perished and that there have been two whole accidents, the second even worse than the first."

"Dang. There hasn't been one of those in what, fifty years?"

Ms. Bartolucci shakes her head, mumbling a little.

"... lucky streak got broken... broken hard..."

"Right. Anyway, let's get the fuck out of here and back to the building."

All four of you turn toward the exit. Huh. Looks like there's now a barrier there. A steel barrier. You haven't seen one of those, like, ever. Why'd they put 'em up? Don't they know there's people in here?

"Aw, fuck. What's that about?"

"I've heard of something like that... some time long ago, I think."

"Yeah, that helps."

"Whoa, wonder if they're... keeping us in? Or are they keeping something out?"

"What, they put up barriers immediately? Assholes! Fumes couldn't have reached us yet, I tell ya. Fuckers, keepin' us penned in."

The lights in the station start going out one by one, leaving only a little bit of daylight coming in from the windows. And even that seems to be dimming little by little.

"Well, isn't that just wonderful."

Climbing down to a subway rail line, with a potentially fatal third rail, and wandering aimlessly along a darkened track, hoping they forgot to seal an exit, somewhere, seems a little desperate. Lets save that for after we've confirmed the zombie apocalypse. For now, let's consider our options. We should also call the Bartolucci staff and inform them of our situation, and search nearby for an emergency kit, just in case we need to run down a subway rail line in the dark, fight off zombies, or put a band-aid on a booboo. Examine the "end is near" news.

Well since the lights went off, the power's out, meaning non-lethal third rail.

Who says its cut?

Also, its magnev. Nothing to get shocked on. But if they have sealed the doors I bet the tunnels are too. Instead, look for and food, drink, etc.

You take a minute to consider what options you've got here, and to be perfectly honest, you think you are rather screwed. I mean, the exit's locked, it's dark in here and you're stuck with a false hobo, a slightly bombed Ms. Bartolucci and one Jerry Love. You get the feeling you'll need an emergency kit sooner rather than later with this bunch, so you get to looking. Unfortunately, there isn't one in sight, since it's pretty dark in here, and you have no idea where to look for one even if it wasn't - the station is only a single, long room, largely lifeless and featureless now that the colorful ads covering the walls, ceiling and floor have turned off.

Well, nothing to it. Better call for help.

"Perhaps we should call Ms. Bartolucci's staff and inform them of our situation?"

"Hm? Call them? How could they help?"

"Um... maybe they could figure something out?"

"Oh, all right."

He quickly looks up the needed address and calls.

"Hello, yes, this is... it's an emergency. Give me somebody who knows about that kind of thing. Hell, give me a secretary."

A few seconds pass.

"Right, yeah, this is Jerry Love. Ms. Bartolucci and I are stuck in the station - door shut on us and the power's out inside. Can you help?"

He listens for a bit, nodding along thoughtfully.

"Okay, so get the chemical suits for us and yourselves, then come over and get the door open, will you? Wait, what do you mean you haven't got chemical suits? Damn it all. Well, be a peach and call for emergency services then, will you? Explain we're in here and tell them to help us out. Yeah, do that."

He hangs up.

"Well, guess we gotta wait, then. They'll call up the cavalry and they'll probably help us. Eventually."

Well, you're certainly in the mood for something unusual. So you go ahead and look up the story about the end being nigh or something.

Ah, looks like it refers to a particular interpretation of one of those new age religions they've got going, the Cyclic Divinity Movement or CDM. It says that they predict an end of an era to come within the next two years, but this is about as precise as they are willing to get. It seems like they can produce calculations of some kind to prove this point, a graph of the ebbs and flows of what they say is divine inspiration in humanity's history. This graph appears to have predicted many things, from the fall and subsequent renewed rise, then the subsequent, even harder fall of communism to the great economic crash of 2107. The Luminary Institute, a pro-CDM research group, has apparently created a reliable framework to predict said rises and falls in inspiration, and they predict that we will reach a depression soon, followed by a meteoric rise in divine presence.

You consider if walking on the rails might possibly be a good idea by any measure. You guess not - what if it's not as depowered as you might think? What if it shocks you? What if a train runs you over while you consider all this?

Huh. I figured the staff of a person rich enough to have her own private five star restaurant would be a bit more helpful. Oh well. I am more surprised at the lack of even a first aid kit in a public, government entity such as a subway line. Double oh well.
