Okay I DTed you. Someone else joined at the same time I thought might be you. Did you use the colony settings I listed? If you apply to the Ascension our religious empire the pop bonus kicks in tomorrow.

It was I that joined at the same time, name Is Isdar and I joined the faction you suggested.

Oh you joined from here. Okay. Did you follow the directions in the first post and make sure to vote divine shadow for president?
Yeah, I did as the post said. But, I didn't understand what you mean by "Science index".

That's my bad. The interface isn't the best. I forgot that some things have different names in other places.

I hope we can get a decent group to at least try the game for a round even if they don't stick around. Game could use some new blood. I think it would be fun if both here and RPS worked out. War of the websites that support obscure but awesome genres.

So how are the factions different gameplay-wise?

We have 3 people newly joining green so I'd go for that if you wanna play with Bay people. But I answered your question in some detail below.

So how are the factions different gameplay-wise?

Thunderstorm got busy with his porn business and then tried to make warfacts 2 instead of adding to one which didn't go well. So faction differences are not actually implemented. There are 3 valid empire types, which are faction agnostic that work.

Corp has lots of player banks, gives some small interest per game tick, confed lets you share fleets, religious gets bonus pop growth from age of empire and number of worshippers. I run a religious one, pop growth starts early compared to interest and its more useful until people are super rich.

Your faction just defines where in the universe you start and who is on your team.

The game is currently maintained by a volunteer web dev who doesn't play anymore, so new features don't happen. Most changes involve altering the round set up every round, faction numbers, lost, landmass growth, starting tech and such.

I once tried to implement my own version but I ended up moving on to 3DRTS instead. Someday someone with knowledge of web dev and free time might upgrade features.

Actually my current faction is slightly different gameplay wise. We are right in the middle of massive faction infighting. We might even have a civil war. Although its likely it will end with a vote.

Although in the end, just getting me reinstated may not be the end of the drama.

For people who are in the faction you should go to the Join An Empire link on the top nav bar and join this:
The Illumination

That is the faction religious empire and tomorrow will start giving us some good pop boosts.

I'm gonna give this game a try. Let's hope I don't fuck anything up.

Edit: What would you suggest for resource production?

Currently we have no technology that needs resources. Any intrafaction fighting will use resource free "shelter tech", the default fights and bombers. If you follow instructions in the post and join my empire and vote for divineshadow for president and set to science index that is enough. We will make other plans as the situation evolves. Note that you cannot be attacked by the enemy witohut being outcast first so you can avoid the war if you are not interested and just stick with politics.

Build your 25 hospitals and 100 police and 100 entertainment and wait for your index to rise and maybe explore a bit.

I was thinking about more advanced buildings, like on the Blueprint Market.

Buildings are complicated. Base buildings are no res with bonus workers and effectiveness for a really low cost. Any player made institutions will cost too much money and too many resources until we improve our science.

The way the admins set up this round, against my advice and virulent complaints, having a non-homeworld science colony wont work. Colony growth was nerfed to a sort of weak curve. Homeworlds have high instant growth, 40 to the one that new colonies get. Science needs to rise in the least number of tick possible to not waste scientist slots.

So every player in our faction should make their homeworld science so we can get better prints faster.

Your first scientist should not be too great but you can keep him anyways. You want stats of 10 or more. 8 is okay for early on. It should take 9-12 hours and you'll start getting 10s. You want to get about 7 and buy the research lab on the market. I did some minin. I can send you enough for 1 lab. Since that lab holds 8 you dont need more than one.

If you follow the instructions and join The Illumination you can't go wrong. I appear to have already defense treatied you. Ask me any questions. Note that the manual is sometimes not up to date.
