So this is probably the only space browser game I still play. Its so different from the other literally 100 I've tried. There are no kid gloves. You can lose. It's not like OGame.
www.war-facts.comThe game takes place in a Universe with 40-70 galaxies and 100k planets. The current round has maybe 20000 star systems modeled on a 3D grid. Z axis isn't that important except for rare tricks like warpnets.
You manage colonies with various amounts of people and set taxes and laws to keep people happy and make money. you mine 10 resources to feed people or create buildings and ships. All ships can be customized with hull/engines/weapons/armor/shields. There are about 40 kinds. Everything but some basic hulls and buildings is researched by players. The game is heavily focused on teams, someone needs to explore, someone to mine, some players to focus on economy and then some on research. Then when war starts on combat.
The game currently isn't commercial and has maybe 100 active players so far for this new round that started 3 days ago. If 5 or 6 Bay12 people wanted to play as a team they could be serious contenders for victory.
There are 4 factions and the Lost that play individually but factions are better for new people. Fights are text based, its all about your designs. There have been as many as 1million ships in battles. Each player can fields 50000. Scaling up past that means less fighters and bombers and more capital ships.
I'm a pretty controversial player, I reset to pursue science and since I was no longer president some people who hate me seized power and outcasted me. I am trying to convince enough players who weren't on at the time to support me and then I'll be back in.
If you guys want to avoid drama joining another faction might be a good choice.
