After playing a few hours of this, this game made me realize how much I liked space 4xs. So I went and played about fifteen hours of Aurora.

You played warfacts a bit? How was it? Sadly they closed Lost and Green so any new players will have to join opposing factions to the main Bay12 faction.
I could see the potential, but it was the same potential that I say in Aurora, which I simply prefer. With Aurora, I instantly felt like I was doing cool stuff. The combat has a delicious second by second combat, on a year by year scale. You design and build your first ships. Honestly, it was a huge let down for me when my ships were just given to me in WarFacts.
Dont get me wrong, I think that Warfacts is cool. I like the concept. But I think I will stick to Aurora for the time being.

Well, you do build your own ships in WF, when you use ship design. And you research blueprints.
I suspect Aurora is probably a much better game though, because the dev isn't a lazy asshole who won't let anyone fix the code and is too busy with his porn cam business to pay attention to the game.

So it appears we only have 2 people still going, Kaitol as Vesteriax and Martnim as LexLuthorz. The round is getting to the point where combat is happning. Big battles will begin in a month or so. Anyone who hasn't tried it out yet?

Although only 2 players from Bay12 remain active it turned the tied. Green is unified and Red/Yellow/Green all just declared a simultaneous war on the Blue menace. They attacked some people and pissed them off and such.

Hopefully when the dust settles Green will be the one to claim the homeland of the enemy.

Ah so the Greens are gearing up for war. Finally some time where I don't have to worry about Green incursion XD

EDIT: Well not as much anyway

I hope you stick around longer than other players.

For anyone who has quit, perhaps you would agree to a pop transfer. Basically we can split the pop of players who quit among active players. This will help me with science and help new players like Luke get a quick pop increase to be on par with the average player in the game. Its hard going coming in with only 450k pop. Some inactives would be worth a split of 200-300k per still active player.

So, what faction would I want to join if I wanted to get into this game?

I am in Green as are any active Bay12 people and like 10 people who quit, so I'd go there. We just had a 3 way war dec on Blue because they tried to stir shit. So combat is incoming. I think the fact that you don't get into combat until a month or more in is one thing that puts people off. Browser gamers just love to kill shit apparently. Sadly attacking in this game is a matter of days or more setting up and traveling because it actually simulates distances.

That statement is actually slightly incorrect. All but one. I'm not in Green and I'm active (I'm also at odds with Green after one non-Bay12 player decided that I'd be best annihilated since Lost = Free colony(ies) for a faction to conquer) Of course the major difference between most here and me is I was playing Warring Factions before I ever was here. ;)

War update:

The Archon leader Prosoft has just taken the combined Scaldarian/Naidar forward operations base in the core of the galaxy. This leaves on the Caeleth operations base at Gemini controlled by my faction left to stop him. It is expected that he will push up one of the arms of the galaxy when he has mopped up the core. The brave Caeleth defenders may not be able to hold him off at Gemini.

At last the combat is getting good.
