Hmm I need some money... *Captures pirate base with starter ship* Ooh, containers. I wonder what loot they conta... HOLY FUCKING CRAP. *sells loot for hundreds of millions of credits*.

Well, I just beat the game.

Spoiler: Here are some tips (click to show/hide)

Also someone should host a multiplayer server. That would be awesome.

It's not uncommon to be hurled out of your ship when you leave it. Most people carry a spare control ship block and everything needed to make a scooter.

I heard trees are also stupidly valuable.

Leaves are worth 100 gold and wood is worth 200 gold.

It is the easiest non-cheap way to earn money.

Pirate bases are stupidly valuable, I raided one and got over 1 billion dollars of supplies.

It took me awhile to even find a pirate base. Imports are broken so there's not much to buy with the goods.

EDIT: Is there a way of restarting at all?

I keep coming across pirate fleets in single player, leading to very rapid loss of hull and death, and I just want to restart, but I can't find a way of doing that, barring deleting the files.

You don't have to delete all the files to start fresh, just the 'client-database' folder, at least for single player. I haven't tried a multiplayer server yet.

There's a button for it in the launcher.
1. Hit Start Game.
2. In the 'Connection Setup' window, go to Tools on the menu bar.
3. Reset Universe.

Doing that starts your character anew, along with regenerating the universe (evidenced by the existence of a new pirate station 1 sector from the starting shop in my most recent game).

Be careful what awesome ships you make because saving them gives the pirates access to them. Pirates appear in packs. I have not seen less than three. 3v1 of the same ship is not pretty.

Is there any possible way to bring ships to a speed faster than 50?  Or is that an in-game limit, because no matter how many thrusters I add, it doesn't go any faster.

Thrusters affect only linear acceleration. Max speed and rotational speed are not effected. Or in other words, putting on more engines makes your turn rate slower. So as soon as you have a decent acceleration, that's when you stop adding engines.

It is why Turrets are so important for huge ships. Eventually they just can't track anything.

You do however NEED to read a guide or else your own turret will kill you.

I will say that the WORST thing to do in the game is repair a ship...

How long do you think it'll be?

And thanks, WG.
Probably not going to set up a server for this yet tbh. Played it a bit and while its certainly interesting its not to what I would call a playable or interesting state.

Gotta agree with this. At this point, there isn't really a whole lot to do after the initial novelty of it.
