Ships as totems to animal gods?

I like that bear shuttle, skin it in grey and blue or brown and you've got a really dwarven looking ship.  The Mole miner on the other hand is a little bit too... basic maybe?  Something present in the abstraction of the bear shuttle is missing on this one, maybe something to do with the bulk, or the use of sponsons as limb replacements.  All in all they look like a good start.

ok will try a more abstract design. I had an issue because there aren't slopes except the 45 deg.

also yes light grey would be better, I wasn't sure about the result with shadows etc.

That is starting to look much better, break up the front end a bit and I think you'll have it.

Here's the thing, for a change, instead of "Future Dwarves == Steampunk Shuttles" I wanted to port what's the recognizable Dwarven architectural feeling into space.

So, straight angles to define shapes, negative spaces to give movement and shapes loosely inspired to cave animals.

I feel that Dwarven architecture instead would, while not necessarily megalithic, at least emanate a feeling of power and majesty, with the ships being akin to monuments to dwarven greatness as much as a ship.  Naval doctrine might be focused around the large ships having one or two big guns that obliterate targets, but primarily focusing on high levels of defense (shields).  I don't think they would employ fighters outside of basic transports.

If we would go for making Elven, Human, and Goblin factions, I feel the structure would pretty much be as follows:
Elven: Naturalistic, emulating animals and forests, with a doctrine towards drowning the enemies in disposable drones and fighters.
Humans: Pragmatic, utilizing simple shapes rather than elegance, taking a balanced approach as their combat doctrine.
Goblins: Generally scavenged wrecks welded together in chaotic fashion with custom built being more sinister, with a combat doctrine that can be summed up as 'Attack, Attack, Attack' utilizing whatever they have (Maross Missile Massacres should be common).

That's just my opinion, though.

Boring, that is how literally every sci-fi that isn't Star Trek or 40k depicts human ships, why not try something more interesting, like abstract organic shapes, or sealife, a stingray or whale would make for interesting ship designs.

Hands off, humans. We'll make our own whale ships.

True...how about we have the Human faction have their style described as 'every', excused as being a result of each world producing their own ships?  Maybe include ships from the other factions, with an insignia of some sort added in order to differentiate from the regular factions?

That sounds much more human, fifty different manufacturers and lots of foreign imports.

Edit so as to avoided dreaded doublepost:  Just spent few hours framing up Ahura Mazda's 'wings' (they're extra space for systems and mounting for turrets.)  The ship is now 1331 meters across.  Without actual hull, just the frame.  I can fit two old disc planets inside the wings.

Why am I going so damn huge?  I can't take them off either, I need them, the Oblivion design paradigm absolutely demands their presence.

Have a look:

Is there a reason this game doesn't work on my computer? It lags to death and I can barely get it to function.

First make sure your java is up to date, then turn things like shadows way down or off (they kill my GTX 980 ti), other than that it could be a number of things, we'd need more information to make any kind of diagnosis.
