Macross Missile Massacre. I've posted about this in the past.

There's also beam spam. I haven't found homing lasers though. Laser beams that are slow and bendy.

I don't know but Gundam and Macross use it frequently enough, although I have a hell of a time trying to find screenshots or video of it. There's a scene in some anime where a ship has broadside lasers that come out of the lenses and then all of them take a right angle bend. The ship effectively has a line of lasers on a couple sides of the ship that can bend to hit anything. Because why not!

It's called Macross Missile Massacre for a reason.

I would have worked it into my carrier by now but good god is it going to be tedious. Will probably also crash the server.

Wasn't there some mention about an update causing weapons groups for which the computer is oriented in a direction other than straight forward actually firing the weapons group in the direction the computer is facing? Because then you could totally make a 400-meter-diameter ship, something like the warships in Independence Day, and have the entire bottom of the ship one gargantuan checkerboard of salvage beams.

...urge to return to this game and build a covenant capital ship rising.

Im surprised no one has suggested 18th centurry themed spaceships, broadsides are totally a thing now!

EDIT: I think i'll go and contruct one of those now


EDITEDIT: on the topic of harvesting planets, what happens when you remove all the blocks from one?

I now need to be able to remotely open doors from the cockpit of a ship. It would make too many things possible.

You can SORTA open doors remotely, if you run a line of doors from the door to the control room.

I did that on my dreadnaught: the hangar bay doors can be opened/closed from just outside the bridge. And also in the queen bee, where the lines of doors go to the docking portion of the hangar so pilots in the bay can open the doors. Also, technically I've done this for the escape pod bays in the vessel I'm building now, although they aren't very long and you could have just jumped up to the door to open it, but ease of use is important for an emergency escape pod so they're accessible from directly adjacent to it.
