I was really starting to fear that we were going to find ourselves stuck with a little poo creature schlorping around our heels the entire rest of the adventure. I'd rather wait until we inevitably find ourselves deep in the sewers before that happens. At least then we'd have much more to work with.

Wait, which bucket suggestion are you giving a +1 to?

OMG. I just looked up sloads on the elder scrolls wiki, and this thread just got that much funnier.

I reiterate my desire for Jubba to find a hat as soon as possible. -glances at the bucket- nah, not that.
Attempt to make a hat from the scraps of straw in the corner (that is presumably our cell's bed).

conjure your familiar. use it to collect info about the jail. use clairavoyance to gather additional data. prepare to enchant a guard or interrogator (preferably the interrogator, since he seems more likely to be able to give us a ticket out of this ... diinuative residence.
What he said. Possibly polish your shiv in the meantime to make time pass.
Also that.   Look in bucket.

[2+1] You create a ball of conjuration magic in your hand and half-push, half-throw it outside your cell along with a small portion of your own soul and a magicka charge.  Unfortunately, the spell is caught by the metal bars of your cell and your frog-like familiar is crushed instantly as it explodes into existence, popping back out of existence mere seconds after the conjuration.  Even more unfortunately, your magicka reserves are beginning to run low, too low to conjure your familiar again without leaving your store exhausted.
You polish your shiv a bit and take a peek inside the bucket.  It's empty.

When guard comes back, put bucket on their head and enjoy being invisible.
+99

You toy with the idea of shoving the bucket down on the guard's head and making a break for it while he's distracted.  Something to consider for when he returns, perhaps.

Anyway, cast Sparks on self. Then cast Healing on self. Then cast Sparks on self. Then cast Healing on self.
Enjoy completely legitimate, reasonable, and well-earned skillups.

You immediately discard the idea of casting destruction magic on yourself.  Not only would that be painful, it would leave ugly scars on your beautiful (by sload standards) body.

Attempt to rediscover "Unlock" spells.

[20-5-2] Now there's an idea.  The long-lost Open spells would be perfect in a situation such as this!  The problem is you have no idea how to cast any of them, and in fact all knowledge of how to cast the spells has been lost for centuries.
You create a ball of alteration magic and get to work on the lock.  After half an hour of variously turning the lock green, making it glow, and growing it three times larger, you hear a click, and the door swings open.  You feel a brief swell of what another race might call pride at your handiwork.

Open Easy Lock added to Spells.
Alteration level increased to Novice.

Take the bucket, and attempt to find a exit.

(Bucket for Invisibility spell when/if we get telekinesis.)

+1 to bucket and prisoners, if it's possible to open them anyways, also try to find more useful items, like a better weapon for example or a way to restore mana/magicka.

[10] Acting on some inscrutable whim you grab the bucket before leaving the cell.  As you look around for the exit, you notice that there is a bank of levers at the far end of the hall.  You pull all of them, and with loud clangs and screeches the cell doors open.  A few prisoners stagger out, disoriented and confused, while some are too far gone to even look up at the noise.
You head the other way down the corridor, and come face-to-face with a Thalmor archer, who appears nearly as surprised to see you as you are to see him.  In other words, not particularly.
[5]vs[7] The elf reacts slightly quicker than you, and draws his glass dagger.
[11]vs[15] He slashes at you, but you quickly dodge the blade and manage to grab your bone shiv.  Behind you, a few of the healthier-looking released prisoners are beginning to regain their senses.

Use an invisibility spell(AKA Bucket) first then attack him.
