If it were possible to sell my current 3DSXL then I would totally go for that one, looks way cooler than the one I currently have. I really like the silvery texture and the simple logo (Although I could do without the design thingy, but oh well)

There is a collector's edition but it's from Gamestop. Uhg.

Okay so I completely scrapped my idea of the fire hammer build and just fuck it'd all the way to something entirely different.
I'm now rocking high rank uragaan armor, which, through talismans and decorations, I've gotten myself:
Defence Up (L)
Bombardier, gotta maximize them slimes and bombs yall
Critical Eye +2, which is +20 affinity with EVERYTHING
And Stamina Drain
Managed to get rid of the swim penalty too.

Using the Dios Hammer too. Is it possible to get the materials for the first upgrade of the hammer in high rank?
Anywho, I'm pretty much exactly where I want to be, most monsters just kinda die really instantly now.

Kiranico is your friend.

Dios hammer+ can be obtained with high rank parts, but Demolition Hammer requires G rank.

Good luck with the brach gem =p

Oh god, that drop rate. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me.
While I'm posting, slime question.
Are there any monsters resistant to slime?
I mean this in two ways.
Are there any monsters that take significantly more hits to slime?
Is slime a resistible damage type?

I don't know if monsters can be weak to it, but slime essentially makes parts easier to break than they normally would. I don't know if the explosion itself does anything special.

It does a pretty good amount of damage. The only monster somewhat resistant to slime (takes more hits to explode and/or takes less damage from explosions) is Brachy himself. Elder dragons take a lot of damage but build up resistance quickly.

Indeed, a Brachy Gem can be hard to get. Just don't sweat it. Slime will let you easily take out most high rank monsters but it'll stop being so powerful when you get to G rank.

I bought this game on the 3DS hoping to play with people.
Afterwards I learned that the 3DS version doesn't support online play because herpa derp lol screw you.
Then I hear Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will have online multiplayer on the 3ds, so hooray.
Then I learn that there's a new version of the 3DS coming out that's going to have much better framerates than the one I just bought can handle.
*Sigh*

Aw, this makes me sad. I'd been looking for a new 3ds game to sink my teeth into. :-\
I'm certainly not giving Nintendo more money for the same console... same deal with the Wii U. I'm beginning to dislike the whole company intensely, to be honest.

Monster Hunter was originally on Playstation right? MH on PS4 would (probably) be incredible.

*Doesn't like the fact that MH4 is 3DS only.*

3DS graphics are horrible, I don't see why Capcom couldn't have gone through the effort to port it to the Wii U as well, it's not like the Wii U doesn't need more games for it.

Because they can release MH4 ULTIMATE SUPER EDITION on the Wii U in a year and get everyone to buy the game again  :P

MH4 and MH4U(the latter is the one being released in the West at all) are both 3DS-exclusive. Neither is going to be or has been released on the WiiU, and it's highly unlikely that there will be another 4th-generation MH game to be on the WiiU.

Ah gotcha, so it's just a classic case of bad management at Capcom.

No, it's a case of excellent management because their primary market is Japan. Handhelds are much, much more popular over there than they are here and home consoles are a lot less popular there than here because of reduced space in homes and the like. They're making good business decisions based on the demographic they aim to make the most money out of.

Western releases are only recently becoming a major part of profiteering because "oh hey, we can make money over there, too! Totally worth the porting costs."

At least, this is how I understand things.

It was indeed, but IIRC there was a falling-out after P3rd and now Capcom has an exclusivity deal with Nintendo. I think. I only got on the MH wagon at 3U.

This is also what I know of the situation.
