I've seen a grand total of two episodes of Dr. Who*, so I'll take your word for it.
*I've been meaning to get into Dr. Who, but I don't really have time. Or access to Dr. Who episodes.

Do you have Netflix? They have most of the seasons, and even some of the movies/Old episodes

No. Sadly.

Bigger problem: Time. There's a quote somewhere about someone who wants to get into Dr. Who, but doesn't want to because there's so many darned episodes. I've been wanting to see it from start to finish. (Ruined very very slightly by seeing the adipose episode and Fires of Pompeii, but meh.)

Well I can't speak for Firefly, but X-files isn't really worth it.
I mean yeah its a pretty good show, but it just feels pointless because every time they get even VAGUELY close to a development in the plot it gets yanked away by shadowy government agents. Usually right in front of Mulder and Scully, just to piss them off

Then he'd blast you just for the novelty of killing his high priest.
