No, unless you trigger one of the vampires to fly into a berserk frenzy.

On the other hand, you can rather easily [once you have the required performers] create the marvelous spectacle that is a vampire warlord fighting against a legendary-wrestling were-creature.

I suspect that it's because elections are won on social skills, and Vampires live a long time so they have the opportunity to become very good at schmoozing.

Couldn't you start a Vampire Cascade if you have them attack the dwarven merchants? That might work for the dueling. Thunderous sound in the background

BTW, the King Vampire has 17K kills, mostly dwarves.
Is that excessive?

If a vampire feeds in sight of everyone, does that eventually lead to dwarves not caring?

No this usually ends with a lot a dead Dwarves, and a very well fed Vampire unless your military is capable of handling it and are near by. By all means proceed.

I am not sure is is the dwarf with highest social skills or with more friends ( so high social = more chances to make friends = more votes). Vampires tend to have highest social skill. And because children do nothing, just socialize ( unless you have other purposes for you little childrens ) they tend to have high social skills to ( and a lot of children friends).

Make a sealed room separate of you fortress, put then military and train non-stop. Next siege, just release the vampires.

I am planning to throw the 3 or 4 vamps into the old Countess's room as she has apparently been so upset over a lesser dorf's room that she's stormed off in a huff, giving me an amply large room nearby.

1. Can I add King Vamp to the trainees? This is my first fortress with a noble of his stature. Besides demanding the making of boxes and bags and the forbidding of export of said items, what purpose does he serve? If he loses out in the next siege, what are the downsides?
2. What items do these vampires needs in the training room for training? Armor stands and weapon racks? Danger room? Do I need clothing if I set the armor to replace clothing?
3. I could just drop these into the kitten incinerator that provides the evening entertainment for dining dorfs. Could also drop in gobbo prisoners that are caged? Do vamps feast on anything besides dorfs?
4. Or, use them in sieges as others have indicated?
5. And cave exploration and FB taunting?
