Much how the data is recorded for history it would be nice to have a run-time log of a gameplay session that could be imported into a web feed for "real time" blogging of a fortress without having to abandon the fortress to get the XML from Legends mode giving people the ability to live-journal their fortress to a web page perhaps with an ingame hotkey to export an image (screen cap) that can be picked up in the feed.

Improved combat logging so the exploits of fallen dwaves can be retained. It would be nice to have a book entombed with a heroic dwarf that recorded their combat logs that could be read or at least exported out to the above suggested journal feed.

The ability to query dead dwarves for their family information would be nice, I was going to make a family crypt but once a dwarf is dead you can't seem to get his family info outta the dead and if he has family that hasn't migrated yet to the fortress (if at all) there is no way to find out until they arrive.

I am thinking if I can get that live journal feed I could set up a HLStatsx style live feed for my fortresses

You should post that to the modding subforum. Especialy the guys from  the Soundsense project can most likely help you since Soundsense reads announcements from memory (via DFhack) already.
