Vile Force of Darkness... but no siege? [LNP r18]

I just got the VFoD announcement, but the red Siege marker didn't appear and there were no enemies to be seen on the map.  I'm not at war with the elves, so it can't be an elven stealth siege.  Very odd.  Anyone else have this happen?

This happened to me once with some mod which had cavern people sieges. I had often ant-man siege without even uncovering the caverns. If you're playing vanilla, I don't understand why would that happen.

I have had it happen in the past with cavern sieges too. I believe that if the cavern civ has no way to get to the surface, or maybe it's just because they are a cavern civ, them invading wont stop caravan's from showing up, so no red siege message.

If you don't have the area of the caverns that they pop up in revealed, you might not even be able to find them on the map until you get some eyes on them, yet still get the VfoD alert.

I'm playing LNP r18.  I did notice one thing earlier.  When the siege before this one retreated, there was a troll in sight that stopped moving, then began to pace back and forth.  I watched him for a minute, then sent someone to get rid of him.  Not sure if this is related, but I wonder if there were other glitched mobs from that siege and maybe they triggered the announcement again before finally leaving?

Dude, you got to stop breaking the game, man. Every time I look there's another thread about something you found in DF that shouldn't be.

Just kidding, if you're not breaking the game you aren't playing it as hard as possible.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that VerdantSF is some type of engineer/systems analyst/technical specialist.  We have the unfortunate habit of expecting things to perform to the fullest extent of what they are advertised to do :P

Lol!  It hasn't happened again yet, but if I notice glitchy siege mobs, I'll make sure to immediately save this time.

Children you rescue shouldn't behave like rabid beasts.  I guess your regular companions shouldn't act like rabid beasts either.
I think that's a little more impossible than I'm likely to have time for.

It happened again.  I noticed it 3 days after the announcement.  No enemies on the "u" view. 

Here's the save file:

Vile Force of Nothing

I think I know what's going on.  A few days after I saved, there were two ambushes.  When the second one was defeated, I got the announcement that the siege was broken.  It looks like goblins can also siege with all stealth units, like elves.

I'm playing vanilla.  ...

Your save file has the note "LNP r18". Vanilla doesn't give "siege was broken" messages.

Oops, I keep forgetting that LNP isn't vanilla.  When I think of mods, I think of Masterwork.  I'll change it upthread.
