So I've decided to implement Neijrin's suggestion for introducing new players. Rather than forcing them into the group, the survivor group will run into an NPC with similar traits to a waitlisted character. If that NPC is inducted into the group, then they become the corresponding Player Character. This not only prevents new characters to awkwardly be forced into the group, but creates opportunity for more characters, both NPC and PC, to appear.

This also places a slight burden on incoming players, as they must adapt their character's story to match how they first appeared in game. For example, your character might be introduced when the group finds them locked in a storage facility, which means you'll have to develop a reason to how your character ended up trapped. However, I feel the overall smoothness of this system outweighs the problems.

Seems good to me. I don't really see the having to work your story into how you were trapped or whatever in as a negative. You had to do that anyways.

I guess that's true, I mainly put in that clause since some characters may appear in pretty...odd circumstances, and that the player has to develop a story for their character getting into said scenario.

Sounds ideal.  All I intended to create was my -character-.  You create the world and everything that's happened to our characters.

It makes -perfect- sense to me that our characters were always in the world and could be in any possible (tentatively survivable) situation when they enter playability.

Try to figure out what kinda snake it is, and if non-poisonous try to move it elsewhere. if it is poisonous RUN LIKE SCARRED KID.

Chapter 26: Reptile

~Day 1~
August 8th, 2015
1:52:23 P.M.

Kyle goes to investigate the shed with his shotgun ready.
"Hey, if Ben could kick down the back door we could get in the house from this way."
Clair back out of the shed, trying to remember anything about snakes.
Try to figure out what kinda snake it is, and if non-poisonous try to move it elsewhere. if it is poisonous RUN LIKE SCARRED KID.

Clair and Charles both exit the shed, the latter at a very fast pace. Kyle, noticing that something has come up, proceeds to the shed door, his shotgun ready for whatever lies beyond. He steps inside the dim light...

[Kyle Perception: 5]
[Snake Agility: 4]

As the large snake glides along the ground, Kyle reacts by blasting his gun. There's a loud boom that reverberates around the interior of the small enclosed shed, and for a brief moment it is lit up by muzzle flare. Most of the shot spreads along the floor, impaling the wooden surface, but a stray bullet embeds itself in the snake's central body. It suddenly starts flailing its body around sporadically, as if suffering from great pain, before it slams into a wall, and suddenly lies still.

Kyle looks around the shed afterwards. It looks like the owners left a lot stuff behind, indicating that they ran off in some sort of rush, unsurprising considering the panic during the initial outbreak.

Shed:
Lawnmower (Empty)
2 Hedge Trimmers
Spade
2 1/2 Cans Red Paint
Wheelbarrow
6 Folding Chairs
Can Bug Repellent
Can Roach Spray
Can Wasp Spray
Box Rat Poison
Box Weed Killer
Claw Hammer
Football
Air Pump
3 Pairs Gardening Gloves
Partial Length of Rope
Garden Sprinkler
Step Ladder
Dartboard with Darts
Horseshoe with Stake

"Who needs to kick when you've got an axe?"
Axe near the hinges to weaken it, then ram it.
"Oh, that's a neat little trick!"

Head inside after those two people.
examine the door for the weakest part and start to dismantle the door

If we take the hinges out then we should be able to get in without so much noise

Ben and Wulf both examine the rear door. Before Wulf can move to silently remove the hinges, Ben comes at the door with his axe.

[Ben Strength: 3]

Ben's swing manages to bend the hinges, but not remove them.

[Wulf Dexterity: 4]

Wulf nudges Ben out of the way to work on the door, removing the hinges with some finger manipulation and use of his Nails. The door can be pushed open far enough now to peek in, but not enough to slide on inside.

Jarrod simply follows Omeen and Layla through the front doors. They are greeted by the interior of a Southern Gothic home, even more empty and depressing in its state of decay. As they fan out around the house, the interior begins to become clear. There should be some things to search for, even though it looks like most of everything was rushed out of the house. However, it is noted that the Living Room still possess a Grand Piano and a cabinet displaying fine red China. Despite these items being a bit dusty, they don't seem to suffer from any active atrophy.
