Take a large birth,
I think this is a misspelling, else-wise things might start to get pretty freaky.

I have no excuses, man.

Look around to see whether this zombie is a zombie scout or something. Hell, a single zombie just milling about is super suspicious.

I can neither confirm or deny if the zombies have some sort of instinctual organization. The players have to learn everything about the zombies themselves. Hooray for dynamic ignorance!

Chapter 11: Surprise Encounter

~Day 1~
August 8th, 2015
11:50:23 A.M.

*whispered*"Fuck. Go around or take the chance?"
Look around warily, gripping the rock harder.

Charles stays back, holding onto his rough rock, his only weapon.

Go around it.
"I think if we keep quiet we can avoid it altogether, just like the others. Maybe their hearing isn't so good?"

Begin slowly moving around it.

Meanwhile, Kyle and Jarrod move out of the road and into the grass where they go to bypass the zombie. Jarrod speculates that the zombie has bad hearing.

(Group Stealth (Kyle+Jarrod): 5+3-1 = 7/2 = 3.5)

Kyle doesn't make a sound, but Jarrod tramples over a twig. Jarrod curses and both men duck into the grass. The zombie itself turns in their direction, though whether out of awareness or reflex, they can not tell.

"Just stay quiet.."
Take a large birth, watch for sticks on the ground and ready my axe.
"I think we should take it out."

While two of the survivors stay away from the zombie, Ben and Clair both begin to take position in order to kill it. They nudge forward, Ben avoiding sticks on the road and making sure his Fire Axe is held clearly between his clenched palms.

I have no excuses, man.

Look around to see whether this zombie is a zombie scout or something. Hell, a single zombie just milling about is super suspicious.

(Nah, it's cool. Everyone always has a day or two where they're busy, I understand.)

Mr. Rand looks around, finding it odd that only a single zombie would be around.

[Mr. Rand Perception: 5+1 = 6]

After a quick overview of the area, Rand concludes that this zombie is by itself, at least in the adjacent vicinity.

The group all makes their moves, while the zombie stands near the truck, gurgling to itself with it's dead eyes staring at nothing in particular. Suddenly, a blur of motion darts out of the truck and straight for the zombie. Instantly, something audibly cracks against the back of the zombie's skull. The corpse falls to the ground face-first, laying still as blood drips from the back of it's head. In the midst appears a man not seen before, dressed in regular clothing, but in his hands he carries some sort of assault rifle. He notices the survivor group. They notice him back.

Wulf Ulric has joined the survivor group.

Wulf is the first soldier the group has found, though despite being trained for military combat, his skills come from more axillary specialist roles. Wulf's foremost specialty is Explosives, which deal with both creation and usage. This skill covers everything from a simple Molotov Cocktail to Dynamite and C4. He is also trained in Electrical Engineering, which deals with the creation and application of electrical devices. He's also learned Emergency Health, similarly to Ben.
His assault rifle is a L85A2, the standard rifle for the Royal Marines infantry. He also has a Military Utility Knife, a short blade designed for having situational adaptability. Wulf has 3 FS & 3 WS with him.

I'd like to recommend everyone bold their actions. This lets me differentiate between speaking and doing something to proceed to the next turn.

Also, I try to keep Metagaming out as much as possible, but with meeting new players, you must let them join. I guess all I can say to help is that whenever a new player appears, all the survivors in the group get a "This person is not psychopathic and probably is helpful, " vibe from them.

[[I was just coming in here to ask about the update. Also I don't like this. It might just be me but forcing players into doing something like this seems a bit arbitrary and rail-roady. Why not let the players discuss it organically instead of saying "Personal interactions are boring. You are here to fight zombies and nothing else." I dunno how to explain it better than that but it IS your game so...]]

Perhaps I was rushing this turn out, but I do hope the players personally interact and Roleplay accepting Wulf into the group. The only thing I'm forcing is that Wulf has to become part of the group one way or another. If I left up to pure Roleplaying to interact with a new player, the survivor group would either abandon, or even kill, some of the players on their first turn. While that makes sense to the storyline, I don't think that would be fair at all. I don't want "HEY YOU'RE A HUMAN COME KILL ZOMBIES WITH US YEAH!" I was thinking maybe some suspicion and reluctance at first, but eventually the group agrees to let him join for some reason they come up with.

[[Well if I trusted only my feelings I would have bothered talking to him. That said a dangerous man that could be a psycho and has been shown to be able to kill is not someone you let know you are there.]]

[[An alternative idea for future "introductions" do what you did with those two NPC's that just sorta left. Have a person of the vague type that the PC is [A nameless soldier at first.] and have him interact with the group a bit [through you but having the Player set up the conditions "Be polite" "Be suspicous" "Ask for X" or the like]. If they keep him then the PC gets introduced. If not then who cares? It was just a nameless soldier and not the PC. I dunno. It's not the perfect system but it does allow for some leeway in accepting people into the group.]]
