You reach out to reach out for the door handle, and only have a moment to notice as a screen of hexagonal plates appears at the tips of your fingers before a feeling of intense shock rushes through your body!

You feel yourself hurled through space toward the far wall!

However, as you hit the ground you manage to roll with it, not taking any more than minor bruising and not causing too much noise, either.

Immediately afterward, you hear that shriek again... and it seems that whatever caused it is closer than it was before, and closing in fast.

Get up, turn towards the sound, and ignore the voice in my head saying it told me so.

Lyuda had a moment of self-reflection. Why in God's name did she feel that this was in any way a reasonable idea? If she's going to find a ghost, what in hell is she going to do with it, anyway? Spout Russian curses at it?

Examine wherever the hell I am and what the hell is going on here. Extremely quietly look for the cause of the suspicious noises all about, most notably all the crashing. Keep eyes and ears open for anything significant. Also, see if there are any things you'd normally find in a school around here, like pens, sticks, maybe a chair. Pick up any that I find.

Clair stares at the sky. She was on the roof to pass the time. Judging by the sky, it seem like the time for action had come. The question was, what kind of action?

Walk toward the source of the noises.

The remaining two girls manage to make it to the Foyer, and Claire has just enough time to recognize her crush rival standing there in the middle of it, presumably having just made the noise, before all hell breaks loose.

{THEME, if you care}

Almost as soon as the two enter the room, there's a loud crash as... something bounds into the room from the direction of the noises.

At first, it appears to be humanoid, if strangely shaped. Over eight feet tall, gangly, with skin like black ink. It stands still for a moment, looking between the three of them. Then it cries out once more, yet more piercing now than when it had been across campus, and now revealing several rows of razor-sharp teeth as it does so.

'Gretchen! What she doing here? Don't worry about that! That thing look dangerous.'

Assume fighting stance. If it try to attack, haymaker.

Grab a chair and be ready to fend off any attacks with it while backing up.

Try to grab something nearby to use as a weapon. The chair I grabbed earlier, if possible.

The creature bounds forward, leaping through the air toward Gretchen...

And she feels time freeze around her, and sees a small, animal-like creature bound out from around a corner at the lazy trot one would usually assume of some kind of feline. Its fur is as black as night, a single, faintly-glowing golden gem embedded in its forehead, forming a triangle along with its two beady black eyes. It looks up at her, and without its mouth opening, a voice emanates from it, affected with a curious underlying purr.

"Hello there, Gretchen. You seem to be about to die. Would you like some help with that?"

"Um...yes, please?"

"You seem to be taking this rather easily. I had expected at least some measure of... what do you humans call it? 'flipping the duck out'? I don't know what flipping ducks have to do with anything, but you seem not to be becoming rather erratic at all. In that case, you should come with me."

Moments later, the world around her recedes into darkness, not unlike that of space... there were even stars all around her, glimmering and shining in a perfect sphere around her form, blocked only by the colored glass of a large stained-glass floor beneath her. Oddly enough, though the sun was clearly visible in the far east, she could also see the moon in the west, though this moon seems... different, shining almost as brightly as the sun itself, illuminating the place around her with brilliant light.

"Welcome." Says the small creature that had brought her here, padding up next to her. "Shall we proceed?" It begins to walk away, seeming about to step off the plate glass and fall as stairs appear beneath its paws. It turns its head back toward her. "Hurry, please, Your friends are still in danger, you know."

"Strangely enough, this pales in comparison to the whole going-to-a-weird-alternate dimension thing. Five minutes ago, maybe, but...um...what do I do now?"
