Disappearing Items
« on: June 14, 2013, 05:26:07 am »

So, just randomly, I had a chunk of my items in a stockpile "disappear" on me. I remember reading ages ago somewhere that when you build a wall next to a stockpile or something, sometimes they will "teleport/disappear"... well... I remember something like that NOW, anyway...

Basically, where did they go, how is the best way to find them/are they lost forever. Thanks :)

Encountered this a moment ago with my wood stockpile. All the wood teleported to a single tile. WTF?

If you deconstruct something close to a stockpile, or any other items on the floor they will all teleport to the deconstructed object.

To the dwarf doing the deconstruction, actually.  The code that causes this was meant to avoid problems where the construction was built in midair and the construction materials fall, but it kinda got out of hand.

... so that's why items keep moving around in obnoxiously random ways!

(It happens with everything. This one time my anvil got locked outside the walled-in fortress, even though I know it had been on the inside of the wall.)

Yes, there's a binpatch to fix that.  Works a treat.

You're 100% right... found where they went to, the block next to a recently reconstructed wall... Instant quantum stockpile!!! Guess it worked out for the best, cause I was running out of space in the stockpile anyway :p

Thanks guys :)
