Newbie Question: removal of construction
« on: June 12, 2013, 09:55:22 pm »

(I'm pretty much a newbie, so this may seem like a stupid question.)

OK, here's what happened, I tried to pave the floor of a big room but I made a typo and filled the entire 6x6 space with ramps.
Now I can't removed them. I tried both d-z and d-n but nothing happens. It's not that my dwarfs don't come to work, its worse, the designation doesn't even seem to register. I really want to salvage this room! What am I doing wrong?

"Remove construction" should indeed be working. Make sure you mark their foundation, where ramps go up.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

Have the ramps been built yet? If not, press q to select the designation and x (I think) to cancel.

Thanks for the tips. It turns out the ramps were still in construction BUT couldn't be removed with d-x

You have to "suspend construction" in the building menu

Not "suspend" - cancel.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
