Several of the boys pointed their weapons at Jago. It wasn't clear who'd wind up hurt first...

"Please, just walk away. We'll all starve if we don't do this! Just go, no one even needs to get hurt!" Sweat was beginning to bead on the kid's forehead. Two of the boys moved into the back room, and could clearly be heard as they excitedly chattered as they stuffed bags.

"Wow, look at all those sausages! And this bread- by the gods, I think it's fresh!"

"Damn, would ya look at these! Apples! Living near Ulfijan must have its perks..."

As Diana and her escort continued at their easy pace, it was beginning to dawn on them that something seemed off, just as people began flooding out of the inn in earnest.

"Hold on, princess. Something is not right here..."

"We had better check."

Diana brought her horse around and made for the inn.

"You're interrupting my meal. I'm afraid I don't quite feel for your spiel. If food was your goal, why not have your brood work, as they say it's good for the soul."

The strange mage had remained seated, half a glass of milk on his table along with half eaten food.

"We shouldn't take too much time. I'll wait until you have entered the building to do so myself, but we really must hurry. Something bad might be happening and things could get worse if we take too long."

"As you wish, milady."

Tyrn dismounted and hurried towards the Inn

A disheveled man wearing an apron sees Diana's entourage as they move forward, and runs toward them. "Please, soldiers, will you not help a man in need? My inn is under attack by vicious bandits! My livelihood is at stake!"

"Dastards! Of course, good man, we'd be all too hap-"

"Wedge, no! Our duty takes precedence!" Biggs turned to Diana. "What say you, er, Milady? We must keep moving... Though, I hate to leave this man to his fate... Erm... I must say, I am conflicted."

"Work for a living? I wish, we're wanted men by now for sure!"

"Then what is the future, if the nut of time is cut? Truly fate is sublime, for all deed can be freed, can it not? Time is much more late than it is to sate, while some say it is in stone, it is more of a loan. That of the past is to last to the future, but the present can be made much more pleasant. There is still time before the chisel is risen, still time for this to fizzle. The choice is yours, as I am yet just a voice."

After these words, the strange mage finished his drink and watched the boy from behind his hood.

"You don't know what you're talking about, you babbling loon! We're deserters from the Exsten army, our only hope is to keep running!"

"'Loon?' Ah, harsh words such so soon. Exsten? Seems the fin on the waters has risen, seems I was missen to this. Do as you wish then little fish, take what's on the dish, but know that you are hunted. Such a fact I cannot be made to be blunted. What shall you do then, to be shunted along until you fall? To hope that your neck shall not be stretched tall?"

Jago looked at the weapons pointed at him, and then at the weird rhyming mage. He began to get quite nervous.
:"Well, uh, if you deserted from Exsten, I don't see why you'd be wanted by Durhiel or Ulfijan! But, if you're going to rob people, you're DEFINITELY a wanted man!"

"You're as daft as the other one if you think Durhiel would grant us asylum! Everyone knows Durhiens are savage, sadistic bastards. We're going to start over in Ulfijan, and last I heard, we're still in Durhiel, so stealing some food doesn't matter. Now get out of here, we're going where we please!"

A bag was tossed out of the back room. It looked heavily laden.

"How much longer, guys?"

A voice called out from the back. "Depends, are we grabbing the flour?"

:"Durhiel and Ulfijan are close allies, dumb***, if you loot Durhiel, Ulfijan isn't gonna welcome you with open arms. And also that bit about Durhiens isn't true."
