Ceil heads toward the northern group. Biggs gets between Jago and the incoming soldiers, attacking the nearest one.

Code: [Select]
Biggs attacks Swordsman A!
110-12=98
Roll: 60-Hit!
11-2=9 Damage!

Swordsman A counters!
117-14=103-Autohit!
12-4=8 Damage!

Enemy Phase 2

The mage to the north moved just close enough to be able to attack Ursa. He quickly regrets not targeting the princess instead.

Code: [Select]
Mage A attacks Ursa!
84-7=77
Roll: 95-Miss!

Ursa counters!
98-10=88
Roll: 88-Hit! (WHAAAAAAAAT.)

To the south, one of the swordsmen and a lancer ganged up on Jago.

Code: [Select]
Swordsman A attacks Jago!
117-3=114-Autohit!
12-3=9 Damage!

Jail Guard D attacks Jago!
92-3=89
Roll: 6-Hit!
13-3=10 Damage!

The far lance user runs at Biggs, and stabs him as hard as he can manage. Biggs manages to land a solid counter, but is run through from behind soon after.

Code: [Select]
Jail Guard E attacks Biggs!
92+15-14=93
Roll: 25-Hit!
13+1-4=10 Damage!

Biggs counters!
110-15-11=84
Roll: 30-Hit!
11-1-5=5 Damage!

Jail Guard A attacks Biggs!
92+15-14=93
Roll: 66-Hit!
13+1-4=10 Damage!

"Rescue the princess... And escape." Biggs tumbles to the floor as the guard rips his spear from the knight's body.

Biggs has been slain.

The remaining swordsman goes after Rodan. He too regrets his poor judgement.

Code: [Select]
Swordsman B attacks Rodan!
117-15-7=95
Roll: 10-Hit!
12-1-2-7=2 Damage!

Rodan Counters!

(God...damnit. Well... I guess it isn't to be expected to have Biggs and Wedge stay with us. :\)

"Let me help you."

Diana moves to 37,4 and attacks the mage.

((Such is the fate of faceless NPCs :p ))

Ursa yelped as the robed man shot a bolt of energy at him, thankfully missing. This must be one of those "mages" Balthazar had told him about!

: "Careful, Princess!"

"The same to you. Mages are an unpredictable enemy, and many don't have the proper training - or the good grace to naturally be able to withstand their attacks."

Diana didn't have much experience with weathering magic attacks, herself. She hoped she could take care of that mage before he got a second spell off, although... it felt so callous to put it that way. But it was her life or his, and she had to escape and get revenge for her family. This man was in Exsten's army. Even if he hadn't personally wielded Alondight, he was party to his king's crimes by way of being a soldier of his. Yeah. That was the way she had to think if she was ever really going to be a commander. This mage couldn't be a man - maybe with a family, certainly with hopes and dreams - but just an obstacle in her way.

That was how it had to be.

Well, this escape plan wasn't working very well. Two men died and another was mortally wounded. He hadn't known Biggs and Wedge very well, and didn't have much to morn for, but he did feel a little sympathy for the others. Either way, this wasn't the time to morn, for him or the others. Kale knew he wasn't much help in the current situation, so he did what he does best and moved to 11,39 to open the nearby chest.

Once again, Jago learns how being a random village kid fighting multiple trained and armored men does not go like in the stories.

(I guess it's cool to post in IC before Blade posts level-ups?)

Diana winced as the sword cut into the mage. It was exactly the same as practice... until the sword went through his clothes and flesh and drew blood. She had managed to hit Tyrn a few times with her wooden sword, but it always just did a little blunt damage and maybe made him move a bit if he was off-balance. This was completely different.

"...That's... that's a lot of blood."

She shuddered and flicked the blood from her blood.

Keep it cool, Diana. he was just an enemy soldier. Don't think of him as anything more. That's what Zayn taught you. Don't think about it.

Ursa shrugged.

: "Not that much blood. Sword make small wounds, more precise. Axe somewhat messier. Is this first enemy Princess kill?"

"...Yes. I... I guess all the training in the world doesn't prepare you for actually... doing it."

Diana closed her eyes for a moment before continuing.

"I would ask if it ever gets easier, but I'm not sure if I would like the answer regardless of which it is."

"Should've stayed in my cell..." Rodan muttered, before advancing on the nearby swordfighter.

Rodan moves one down and spears the Mercenary.

The big man thought about Diana's sorta-unasked question. He himself had no real problems with taking life, not since he was young and had to kill animals for food. Not since the first humans he killed had just finished murdering his mother. But something told him that would be a little much to explain under the circumstances, and he opted for a more roundabout response.

: "Hmm...Ursa not sure answer would apply to Princess anyway. Princess grew up very differently than Ursa and have different view of things. Sorry."
